From the looks of things the storm is dropping in strength a tad with each new advisory, thank goodness. Also, looks like you will only get the west side of storm, which is definitely good news for Houston. Bad news, is NO is getting the east side of storm and all the storm serge that goes with that.

yes, looks like better new for Houston. Two levees are now breached or leaking in new orleans. THe Industrial Ave Canal is breached and the London Avenue Canal is leaking into Gentilly...the neighborhood I grew up in.
Quite sad to see the area I grew up and lived in be flooded once again. While certainly damge cannot be increased...it just continues the nightmare.
What a month in this nations history. A wake up call as to how vulnerable we are to nature.
Also, it points out just how dependent the nation is from this region and the region in LA. No doubt we will see the gas prices on the rise again. I see no way this will not have a significant impact on gas prices and not damge some of the refineries in the area.
Glad the highways are clear and folks are safe. lets hope and pray for the best if there is such a thing with these monsters of nature.
Glad I now live in AZ. The feeling from one of these monsters knocking at the door when I lived in New Orleans is one I hope I never experience again .
i can recall hearing folks say bad things usually cone in groups of three...Katrina, Rita and ??????.
