I, too, save all my receipts related to the saltwater hobby but I have NOT been brave enough to go back and look through them nor do I DARE to add them up. I don't think I wanna know, but someday curiosity will get the best of me and I will. I hope I have a strong heart!

I take all my SW addiction costs as a medical deduction. Its much better than the Pschiatrist I'd need if I didn't have the "bug".

When i first started i saved all my reciepts, wrote everything i bought in a little book then about a month before my husband got home from overseas and he asked me what my tank looked like (i set it up to keep me busy for the 9 months he was gone) I said looks great. Then i added up all the money before he got home,, and well I SHREDDED the book and all the receipts He assumed i had set up a 75g tank, and all it was was a 35g
and now all i tell him is ' I am going to the LFS to get some water,, be back in an hour' he doesnt even bother to ask when i come in with stuff how much it costs.

ya know in the end all that matters is we like what we spend our money on. We could have a new car, or house for some of us, but we wouldnt have it if we could have our tanks. (now my husband he wouldn give it a second though hed have another new car, which is wny i dont tell him how much i spend) We all work to spend our money to do what makes us happy, before we die that is,,,

It's amazing how kids my age complain about buying "expensive" things. My definition of expensive has been seriously changed since I got into this hobby. People complain about spending 50 bucks on a phone and I just laugh
