I would never want to know a total of how much I have spent. I do feel like the cost is slowing down now though. Think it is because in the beginning when you are not sure what you are doing you buy crap that dies or a cheaper version of what you should really get. I think if you spend more in the beginning on things like RO/DI unit and really good skimmer it is cheaper in the long run.
I remember taking my girlfriend with me one time (I don't take her anymore) to the fish store because I needed some filler live rock and the total came to $150. She looked at me like I was crazy spending that kind of money on rocks. I tried to explain the importance and the longevity of the rock, but it does come down to the fact that it is just some dumb rocks. She still talks about it.

My wife used to say. Why don't you just buy what it is that you need instead of making your own? Then I bought my first light fixture. She doesn't say that anymore......

I got sucked into this hobby. It started out converting my Fw cichlid tank to salt. Just add some salt and some sand and some decorations...
.
like taking a hit off that crack pipe, it didn't take much to become a full blown junky.
BTW everyone remember that tonight's going to be the first SW.A.A. (Salt water addicts anonymous) meeting. Somebody show up this time OK?

I got into this hobby to do things the right way which means getting all the equipment and supplies. I knew this would be expensive but it's been quite an adventure. I don't keep receipts on my aquatic hobby just like I never kept my receipts on taking my daugter around the country to play basketball and the the cost of traveling to see her play college ball. Some things you just don't want to know how much $$ you spent.

I take all my SW addiction costs as a medical deduction. Its much better than the Pschiatrist I'd need if I didn't have the "bug".
If I were you I would opt for the therapy, your current approach is denial, we all plainly see you are crazy
