Mexican Turbo snail Question

I picked up 4 yesterday, acclimated them the way I have done in the past.Since 6 am this morning none of them have moved, and I do not see the shell moving at all.One is attached to the glass, but not moving/eating.ALL water parameters are fine.
Just seems weird, because the ones I have bought in the past, are non-stop eaters, from the second they were put in the tank.

hey, ive been to summers before!
have you ever used copper? i cant keep snail in my 29 gallon because of it.
did you temperature aclimate? A few weeks ago i bought 3 snails, aclimated them, realized i forgot to temp acclimate. They all died.
pic one up and smell it. If it is dead you will know it!!!!. PS; you might want to use a bag or a glove over your hand, if they are dead....well...... the smell is kinda hard to get off.

My astrea didn't move either the first day or two. even still during the day they are in the same place all day. Only after night passes do I discover they have moved across the tank. Could be they just arent comfortable yet. I do realize turbo (mexican) snails are suppose to be much more active than turbo (astrea) snails. mexicans are from colder water, could take them a while if at all to acclimate completely.

Like Stan said they are cooler water snails and will eventually slowly die at reef temperatures. I have had some that move right away and some that have taken a few days. They should all be fine for the interim anyway. How long did your previous Mexicans last?

I have Mex and astrea snails. I lost a few Mex snails but I don't think any of my astrea snails have died. I keep my temp around 78 (though I did move it to 82 but back to 78 now..long story). I've read that snails can live for 30 years....has anyone had snails for such a long period of time say 10+ years. I know my neighbor has had one for 8 years and he is pretty big....I guess that can be a problem if you have a lot of snails.

thanks for the replies folks. My other mexi's have lasted about a year, and still have a large one that has been in the tank since the cycle ended (1 1/2 years). My atreas are doing fine, however the turbos are still sluggish, and this is now 4 days into the tank.I will keep them monitored.

That's a primary symptom of osmotic shock from acclimating too fast. The larger the snail and the greater the salinity difference the slower it needs to be acclimated.
Keep in mind that most fish stores don't acclimate properly either and it can take a week or two for a snail to die from osmotic shock.
There are drip acclimation procedures here under the button "Acclimation" over on the left.

Bang Guy's got it right...
I couldn't keep a snail moving for anything until I started treating them like I do my fish. Well, not exactly...but I do temp acclimate and drip for an hour (probably over-kill) but I've had the same 4 astreas and the same 3 turbos now for months. I get home from work and go over to the tank to count everyone...yeah, I need a life.
BUT, I still have my snails!! Whoo Hoo!!
