Is it okay for me to hang a 250 watt MH bulb over a 55 gallon (long tank) with a distance of 6" over the water surface? Or is that too close to the water? Thx in advance.

My MH lights are 6 1/2" from the top of my 225
Works for me
Thx for the quick answer ! and two more quick question ^^, can I use the 250 watt bulb with a ballast rated for 400 watt? Would a 400 watt bulb be too much for 55 gallons? Thats like 7.3 watts per gallon?
I would not run a 250w bulb in a 400w ballast it will burn the bulb out in no time. When I bought my set-up the guy told me it was a 175w when it was a 400w so I put a 175w bulb in there and it fired it but it was very bright and could not figure out why. So I asked the guy who had the set-up before the guy I got it from and he took out the 175w ballast and put a 400w in there. It was a PFO. SO I would say No dont do it.
