I'm not trying to hijack this thread but I am having the exact same problem as this person. I just began my cycle a few nights ago and fired up the skimmer about 10 minutes ago and its shooting micro bubbles out of the bottom. I'm not sure if this how it's supposed to work but it seems like most tanks I've seen with an in-tank skimmer aren't filled with micro bubbles.
What do you mean by bottom? If you mean the elbow that the water return to the tank.....then twist that so it is at the top of the water, that will break the bubbles at water level
BUT give it a chance to break in too

I'm using a different PS than the OP. I have the Visi-Jet skimmer which I have recently found out it's a piece of junk but I want to try to get it working somewhat before completely disregarding it. I bought is used and cleaned it up really good. From what I've read, with this skimmer, its a matter of fine tuning the air intake to reduce the bubbles. It's really annoying because when I have my flow on the PS at 25GPH, I still get bubbles but I'm going to give it a few days and see what happens.

I don't knowe anything about your skimmer, but mine used to shoot micro bubbles when the water wasnt the right height in the tank. Just throwing that out there as a possible option.

ya like they say i changed the bubble off so it can break in (some how lol) so then if it break in i gotta move to a house (in a apartment right nao) and put a elbow on it and make sure every evil microbubble dies at the top

and here is the link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMk6GlrS2NY
So I'm confused??? You stated you have the CPR skimmer. I provided you with that link in your other thread. In the statement above, you mention you have to install an elbow??
I really wonder if you have it setup right to begin with?? Also, what does moving have anything to do with the skimmer?? YOu either want help or you don't......

If its a HOB skimmer then just take it off the tank. Keep the water if you want, and put it back in when your done with turning the pipe.
Why can't you take it off before a water change?

Sometimes when the skimmer is new, (not knowing if yours is or not) it will have a break in period and it's been my experience that in about a weeks time this should subside. Burrito.....if this doesn't stop, you may have to put a bubble trap on the discharge water flow from you skimmer. I have the exact same skimmer on my 40g and I ended up putting a bubble trap on mine and it solved my micro bubble problem. I do think that as it aged, the bubbles slowed down a bit too. Good luck, keep your chin up.

I bought the bubble trap...the internal one and the external one....they were crap
After a year I still had the bubbles....I think by then it was broken in....what helped me was turing the outflow elbow to the top of the water, the top of the water broke the bubbles
don;t waste your money on the worthless bubble traps

Burrito, if you need to adjust the elbow return, you shouldn't have to wait for a water change. Just have your Dad change it for you, all he had to do is hold the skimmer with one hand and change the direction of the tube with the other hand. But I still don't think that will completely get rid of your bubbles. CPR sells that bubble trap, google it and see what you can find. You can also find them on the big auction site that rhymes with eday. Let us know how it goes.
