My side of the family are all marines. My husband's side is all Navy (mostly Naval pilots). There are lots of good people in the military.
Do you have a good education and work experience? Then use it to negotiate BEFORE you sign the dotted line. Figure out what career they can offer you, what training camps are interesting, and where you might want to be stationed. But get it in WRITING before you sign.

Actually there is a fairly high demand for trained helicopter pilots in civilian work right now. At least that's what I am hearing from pilots over here. A couple of guys I talked to about 2 weeks ago were going to re-enlist in the National Guard to get trained on helicopters.
