Mixing chromis

Very similar to my mixing angels thread lol...but I was wondering if the blue/green chromis would school up with the blue reef chromis? I wanted to get 2 or 3 of each type and was hoping they would school together...anyone have any experience with this

Lol they may, but alot of folks me included have issues w keeping multiple chromis. I started w 3 have one 1

You would be extremely lucky if they would school up with themselves. They tend to kill each other off one by one unless you have a fairly large setup.

I'm so glad to see this thread. I have been a total failure at keeping chromis, and assumed that it was a problem on my part. Knowing that others share this difficulty eases my conscience a little.

Yeah my dad has 3 blue reefs now for about 3-4 days now in his 55 gal and so far they school together without any real skirmishes...see how long that lasts I guess...lol

But yeah I have a 93 gallon cube that I would like to add 1 blue reef, 1 blue/green, and 1 maybe like a webers chromis or something else similar to the reef body style :~} I guess I'll just have to try it and hope for the best

I think for example if u wanted to end up with 5 of them u gotta buy 7 of them when there just teeny tiny babies and hope 5 make it lol that's my theory

You are saying aggressive fish will kill less if you have more fish in your tank?????????

It works in fresh water sometimes but hasn't been my experience in salt.

I tried 7 and had 7 for quite a few years. Then they started to decline. I'm beginning to wonder if they require larger tanks that what is commonly believed.

Not really what my point was, no...I'm saying people larger schools seem to dwindle right away and then seem to grow on each other lol...I however have no proof or science behind this lol

I kind of agree bang...after all they do become a pretty good size fish

I think it's the swimming pattern vs the size of the fish. I'm beginning to think that being cooped up raises their aggressiveness toward each other.

For example, you can raise a parrot in a 2 X 2 foot cage for 50 years but a hummingbird would die in a week.

I have 3 tiny blue chromis and have for about a month. I hope they don't turn on eachother!
