How long has this been an issue and how long have you had this tank up and running?
This only started happening the last 2 water changes when I used this new filter. This tank is about 1 year old now before that I used tap water and never had one issue

When using a new filter, you have to dispose of the first 10G of water or so, did you do this? Are you running hot, warm or cold water through the filter?
Your using the API Tap Water Filter, right?
How often do you do water changes?

I used that thing for years, even filled a 155G with it, this filter is NOT your issue.
Can you answer the other questions?

I used that same filter in my biocube as well, water from that was fine with me too- my problem and why my bio cube failed was lack of knowledge. I didnt act on the red flags when they reared their ugly heads at the bottom of the pole I waited till they were allllll the way at the top of the flag pole and anyone in town(experienced reefers) would see the big red flag waving in the wind and my tank was shot as soon as I said what was going on.
If your serious in the hobby you should try one thing then if that doesnt fix it --- you move onto another thing then if that doesnt fix it you move on to the next thing. You should have tried 5 things by now instead of only asking for help people over a computer can only do so much for you then you acting on the advice should be the thing that fixes your tank AND should not just keep adding animals and watching them die- would you like to be put into a room and locked in with conditions that kill you over a few days time? Think of the animals as living creatures not as decorations and treat them as such.

I understand what you are saying I have done all the water changes and tests before I even posted here so please do not treat me like a child..we can only do so many things in a 24 h/r period... I did what I could yesterday.. now I am trying to get advice to see what people think the next step should be.
BT..i answer that question just scroll up a bit it should be in read next to the picture of the filter.

Ice cold water works best when running water through the filters and the water should run through VERY slowly. The warmer the water, the more issues you will have.
I would change your salt immediately, get new test kits, have the LFS double check EVERYTHING. Go to the store and buy bottled water, even Poland Spring will work. Use this water and mix new salt with new water for your next few water changes. See how things go. Stick with a salt that you're going to be able to find easily. As much as I want to try Brightwell's myself, it's not readily available right now.

I wasnt trying to make you seem like a child.
Wasnt trying to be mean
Just trying to make a couple of points with you.
BTLD has told you time and time again that seachem salt is not a great salt- have you changed brands to give that a shot to see if thats in fact your problem?- That can be your cheapest change and may be the only thing you need to do. People lose everything in this hobby as well as a lot of money from finger pointing the blame on one thing meanwhile it was something totally different but they SWORE it was what they said it was
Do you test for magnesium? Am just asking out of curiosity. BUT if I had CAL/ALK AND PH problems adding anything would be the last thing I would have done.
What is the list of every test kit you own?
If I wanted to make you look like a child I would have called you a lot of unsightly terms for buying more corals when you cant even keep snails alive- but I didnt. Just tryin to help out how I can if you dont want my input noooooo problem.
Not to mention especially when you have issues water changes should be done weekly- I do weekly ALWAYS-- good luck with your tank

[hr]
and google daft- british slang-- find your problem the right way before you live up to that- are not there yet but if you keep snapping at people that try to help you could be rather quickly.

I can get it pretty easily by me they are not to far from me, plus a 5 gallon bucket lasts me 6 months easily

I also used that filter on my 225G before I got he ro/di unit.....make sure you have a really slow water flow threw it
also I use instant ocean salt and NEVER have issues with readings
RED SEA tests DO SUCK!!!!!
I have replaced most with salifert, but still use api for the basics

You might want to try a generic salt that everyone uses in this hobby first to rule out salt as an issue. Which I really do think is an issue for you, even for the overall health of your tank.
I don't recommend buying a 5G bucket and having it sit around for so long unless you can keep it in a temperature and humidity controlled environment, salt does go bad over time.
One of the nice things about Coralife is that the 5G bucket has 3 separate bags inside so you don't have all of is open at once.
IO has really nice new tops to seal their 5G buckets if you really want to go with the 5G of salt, which I understand, because it does save a lot of money.

Red Sea kits suck, but the Red Sea Pro is just as good as Salifert for Mag and Ca.
API tests for the basics are great. I really like API test kit for pH for some reason.
For his tank he should have (IMO):
API: Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, pH
Salifert: Ca, dKH, Mag, Phosphate

Daft, stop using SeaChem products, they're bottom line products and really aren't that great.

Was not snapping at anyone ... when I left the tank in the morning I had no issues in it ... so I bought coral.. if I knew there was a problem I would have waited.. yes I bought salt.. it arrived today. i had my Mg tested is low @ 900 ... every thing else I tested at home came with the same results at the LFS...I bought TropicMarin salt... looked around a lot of people seem to use this with no problems. Yes I know what DAFT means .. thats why I used it.. I thought it was comical.

Low Mag with the other readings you were getting is a concern. I'm glad you changed salts. Use some good water and do some water changes, you should see some differences soon. Good luck
