Hi everyone and thanks in advance for any input and information. I am on my second run with my 100 gallon reef aquarium (live rock and fish), and i am having a little bit of trouble again. It has been about 4 months since the tank fell apart with ich the first time. About 2 months in, we bought 2 damsels and everything was running very smoothly. About a month later, we bought a Stars and Stripes puffer and a Niger Triggerfish. Both of these fish were healthy coming into the tank and were in great condition. All was going well with no signs of disease. About 3 weeks ago we purchased another trigger, once again in great condition. When we first bought the trigger, i noticed that there was a small group of white hair looking material in a small pocket in the live rock (about 3 inches wide, 2 inches deep). I removed this by hand just about 3 weeks ago. Since then, i have noticed that the puffer (none of the other fish) has been having alot of very small white spots, none of which look big enough to be ich. He also lays in the live sand most of the time when he sleeps and when he gets up, there is a good ammount of live sand stuck to his underside. He does not have trouble breathing and he is still eating like a champ. Other than this, the only other issue i am seeing with the tank are small, plant like growths on the live rock. These look similar to the branch of a tree but very small, maybe 1 mm. They are not hard and they sway around with the flow of the water. I am very concerned with this and i am looking for a way to get rid of this, it is very unattractive and its taking away from the beauty of the tank.
