AAF did a cover (and in my opinion a better version) of Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal...

they didnt write it... they covered it...
more often than not, the songs done by most top 40 artists are not written by the performer... infact i would argue that most of them dont have a creative bone in their bodies, just a marketable face/style/voice... the name of the person(s) that write songs typically only get mentioned in the credits or at award ceremonies... otherwise Randy Newman, Paul Shaffer & Barry Manilow would still be in music news today...
i agree UKCATS... AAF did do a very good job on that song...

Saying the Beatles are overrated is a wrongful statement, considering they are the most influencle band in the history of music, and almost all their songs were #1 on the charts within a week. They are the best band of all time, doesn't mean you have to like their music.

For me, most of the crap that is spilled onto todays music scene.

right band right time... they lucked into a tour... a lucky band from "their" genre that actually spilled into world wide recognition first... today they would be one of those "crap" bands youre refering to... they were highly marketable, fresh, new and had that "good boy" look about em... sang simple stuff with 2 or 3 chords... and personally i credit them with making saying the same thing over and over and over and over and over "good"... #9 ring a bell??? how about "i want to hold your hand"... ya thats cutting edge stuff right there...

I agree. The fact that they were revolutionary and had number 1 hits is irrefutable ( or however you spell it). IMO, the recipe for an overated band is one that has huge success and popularity but lack in the musician department and the Beatles fall into that category. I also agree that 99 percent of the bands these days are all overrated. The music industry isnt about music anymore. It's about Do-Ray-Mi-Cash-Flow!!!

Saying that is like saying America was bored of the Radio and the Television was invented at *just the right time* and that is the only reason is was successful. Just accept the fact that most of the bands you love were inspired by the Beatles.

your analogy is a bit off IMO... it would be more like Americans were tired of the marks brothers and along came the smothers brothers...
but to each their own... and in your fairy tail things end happily ever after i am sure...
