Motivation for starting SW...??

I just posted this in another thread, but it occurred to me that it might be better posted in this forum...read on...
I just left a kind of heated thread regarding someone wanting to set up a tank similar to the one in the cartoon Finding Nemo .
That got me to thinking, what motivates people to get into this hobby and stay in it?
Here's my motivating experience...
My HB and I were on a diving trip to Aruba (my first real ocean dives). Where the corals were not that impressive, for my first ocean dives I was totally enthralled. On one of the last dives of the week, we were doing a drift dive...AGAINST the current(!!) when I saw the tiniest trunk fish and a trigger just as tiny playing on a coral. If the current had not been so swift, I would've spent MUCH more time watching them because neither fish was more than an inch long...VERY CUTE.
On the way home from that trip, I started planning my SW tank. Nothing with either of those fish, obviously (37gal), but I love having my own little piece of ocean in my home.
We just got back from a dive trip to Cozumel, Mex. a couple of weeks ago with a whole new appreciation for the hobby...I absolutely love it!!
Soooo....what was YOUR motivation???

LOL, well, hopefully this thread will be better than the aforementioned one...

My motivation was going to the local pet store for dog supplies and seeing saltwater fish like these:
.

That is some great motivation SW8. Where are you with your tank set up? established? just starting? cycling? What size tank are you planning on?
There is SO much research that goes into a successful system. I was lucky and found this site a year ago before starting my tank. Would you mind if I show some pics?
here goes..

Good reason, I was attracted to the hobby for the same reasons.

I have a cousin who works for the New England Aquarium in Boston. After visiting there last summer seeing all the different marine fish, I was pretty much hooked (No pun intended). I'm just now getting really serious about starting up my own system.

So Phixer...Phabricator...let us into what you have...tank size, establishment, etc...
The reason I post this is because I watch posting patterns...and, don't take this wrong but, you really only seem to post humorous anecdotes...whether or not they are in tune with the subject at hand...hmmmm...

Hi Monalisa
Its in my Bio but you already know this if you watch thread patterns :notsure: , I try to only post about subjects that I feel I can help out or contribute too, I like to make people laugh and humor is always in tune. Check some of my older threads in the DIY section, i.e Acrylic bonding techniques and aquarium construction, Top Recommended books, using sand from a nearby beach... not very humorous. I like to browse the new hobbyist section and of course the all in common "aquarium" forum. My apologies for making you mad. :happyfish

Mmmmm...sorry Phixer, I don't really frequent the DIY section. But I reiterate..out of curiosity, I would like to know what kind of system you're running. Any pics??? I LOVE to see pics of other tanks...
As far as how long I've been in HIM...a long, LONG time
