Moving Cross Country with Fish....

how long do you expect your drive to be? i ask this because if you could break everything down and pack it all in the van, you could mail yourself the livestock like sites like this one do. that way, you wouldnt have to worry about driving with all the livestock in your van (which can be super stressful during stop-and-go driving and around curvy roads) and when you get to the new spot, you could set up a 2 bare bottom tanks with your QT and a rubbermaid while you re-setup your DT's and let them go through their mini-cycles. i've never bought fish online, but i'm sure for a fee you could get all the equipment necessary to mail some livestock. with that said: if you can get the material to mail yourself the fish, then you could package them the same way and drive them in the van.

No.....
I mean in the back of my van it has actual outlets - it's not a lighter plug thing.

I have four of these in the back of my van....how would I go about figuring out the wattage so I don't smoke them lol
There is an inverter somehere in the van. Specifications might be on the inverter itself. Is it a conversion van? If so, a third party vendor installed it. (like MarkIII) It would be in the paperwork from them. It is most likely behind the panel containing the most outlets...if there is one. Are they spread out all over the back of the van? Your alternator produces 12 volt alternating current which is converted to 12volt direct current. This is changed to 110/120 volt alternating current by an inverter. Unless your van has (and I have never seen one) a 110vac generator bolted to the engine, it has an inverter.

I can see the livestock arriving several days before they even get there. Also, it would be a lot to deal with on the first day of the move. Things go wrong when moving and a fish tank adds to the problems exponentially.
I would have a friend ship it after your tank is set up and test levels are stable.

No not a conversion van...but I wish it was because I could use the space. It's a minivan - Buick Terraza - I have NO idea what an inverter is, I just know the outlets were part of the package I had purchased when getting the vehicle. Considering your description though, I'll take your word for it on the voltage since you appear to know what you are talking about
There are four outlets total - 2 on each side in the rear of the van. The only panels back there are the air pump on one side and the jack/tools on the other and the outlets aren't on the panel but up closer under the rear windows right behind the last row of seats??

Do you have the owners manual? It will be in there somewhere.
If it's not a conversion van, the dealer will have the specs. I would drive to a dealer and ask the service dept. It may cost you a couple bucks in a tip to get a tech to look it up for you in their books. You may be able to google it to find out. I can check ALLDATA at work next week to see if specs are listed there.
I googled it and could not come up with specs for the outlets. If you can't find them, PM me and I'll look them up at work next week. (I'm taking a hiatus from work) I did learn that you have the CXL option.

I know I have the owners manual around here somewhere, but I cannot for the life of me remember where exactly it is that I put it. Will keep looking ;)
