My 2 side ones are 10 and 12".....The back is only about 5" can not lower the sides much more due to corals
the back may need to go another inch lower....not sure yet.....BUT cause of rock will only be able to be lowered 2-3" AT MOST
I'm curious what BTLD has hers at because of top water movement I am seeing

I'm real curious as to what type of sand you both are using as well.....My MP60's (2) are mounted roughly 8" off the bottom and I get excellent movement on the top of the tank with just them running......I can get a very pronounced shimmer affect even without lighting over the tank, just room lighting, but curious if you have any sand movement with yours down that low, and can you run them wide open without moving sand that low in the tank........

Shawn Iwhen I set up the 225G I got something like this (and aragonite)
http://www.**************.com/images/Categoryimages/normal/p-29681-39438-live-sand.jpg
I can't move the one on the left down because of a large toadstool leather....and the one on the right there is a large leather tree......I can move the one on the right down some though..BUT.....I need to be careful of some other established corals in its way.....
Last time I adjusted the MP40's I almost lost my bubble coral....I won't chance that again :(

Yeah that looks something similar to the sand I've purchased.....I was just curious if you had any issues of sand blowing with the addition of the PH so low in the back......

My MP10 is about 10" down from the surface of the water. On the right side of my tank, where my return pump is not as strong, I have one 8" from surface, and one 6" from surface. On the left side, they're 8" and 10" from surface.
I get sand movement in the right front corner, but I'm not sure if it's the MP's causing it, or the goby. Other than that one spot, I don't have sand movement, but I get really good flow at the bottom of the tank.
Most of my sand is Nature's Ocean Bio-Activ Live Aragonite Samoa Pink. There is also some of their natural white as well as some CaribSea live sand. Yes, I bought all bagged, wet sand. I get an amazing deal on it from my LFS, and it makes it the same price as buying dry sand, but with the wet, it's less work, I can just dump it in (which is exactly what I do, lol).
They're running 85% and 90% I thought they were all on reefcrest and nutrient transport mode, but apparently Mark changed that without telling me.Now we have two of the MP40's running on opposite sides of the tank running in Lagoon at 90% and the other two opposite each other along with the MP10 are on Reef Crest at 85%
**edit - Mark and I are arguing over the actual measurement from the surface each one is, so give or take 1.5". He says they're closer to the surface than I do.
Lois, Keep in mind that my tank is not as deep as yours. When I had these on the 155, which was as deep as your tank, I had one only 3" from the surface and one was about 5" off the bottom.

I ran them at about 90% in that tank, but it did move all the sand out of the spot directly below that power head. It didn't blow sand everywhere though, just pushed it into mounds.
When I say bottom, I really meant to the top of the sand line and that tank had about 2" of sand
