I think it would be really cool to have one of those saltwater pools.
They make these 'salt generators' that use salt instead of chlorine to keep algae and other bacteria from forming in pool water. The systems aren't cheap (they start at around $700), and they don't completely stop you from using chlorine in your pool. I have a couple of buddies that have the systems, and they say they work great. I think the ROI is about 3 - 5 years, depending on how big your pool is, and the type of annual weather you have. What's interesting is you really can't taste the salt in the water.

I keep planning to switch over to salt every year but it always seems like something else comes up. The heat is causing the pool this year to really eat through some chlorine too.

If I was to buy a new pool I might consider it.... BUT I'd like to sample a pool with it in it.....I hate SW ICK

They are running adds for stuff saying true saltwater pool vs the other ones where you just use less chlorine. I have no idea what the difference is, but in my fantasy world it would work something like the san diego aquarium, where I'd just pump in salt water from my beautiful beach into my swimming pool I personally love the taste of salt water...
What I don't understand in a salt water pool (unless it is a misnomer) I had PLENTY of algae in my sw tank...

I wonder if all women think that when a man is off from work but doing choirs at home that this is an "off day".
Poor guy probably had to cook dinner.
Glad you got your pool fixed so you can relax.

HEY....I brought him home dinner....
I wonder if men realize that WE ARE NEVER off
Whatever kids are a joy, and cleaning house only take a couple of hours... Woman make their work seem soo difficult as a guilt trip, and men go for it, because they might get some...

I don't think it's completely the increased shipping costs. Costco has a decent brand of chlorine I used to buy, and just a couple years ago, it was right at $70. Now it's priced the same as all the other places that sell chlorine. I don't see the markup on other large items that Costco sells that are as high as what they have on the chlorine.
That may not be the case in your area. I know it is here among all the local shops.

Yeah....if we had a pool I'd probably never get out of it. After working on them for 7 years, I have no interest in owning one.
