an inch is good. if you go over 2 or 3 inches its considered a deep sand bed wich is beneficial, but if it isnt properly done it can throw your tank into cycle over and over. I think an inch to two inches is perfect.
Definetly a lot of Halemeda in there. The yellow blob is a sponge. It probably won't get a whole lot larger than that. The second photo is likely a different variety of sponge or some sort of sps.

Thank you. What is Halemeda? Good or bad?
Also I tetsted my water. It was okay. I did a water change because it wont stop being so cloudy. Its still cloudy. Its been 3 days since I added the new rock and messed with the tank.

Halemeda (I hope I am spelling this right!) is the seaweed looking stuffIf the LR is new it will probably die off (first turns white, one of the plants in your picture seems to be doing that). It can be quite difficult to keep but if anything it is beneficial!
Thank you Mantis!
Well my trites and trates are at .0 My ammonia is real high. Is this a sign of it spiking and how long should I wait to do a water change?
i wish i can help. but i never did anything except let the water keep cycling.
but what i dont get is that ammonia cause nitrate to spike as well. yet the nitrate is good but the ammonia is like wow. so yea i guess do a tiny 3g water change. but before you do it let other people help you out. i dont want you to crash your tank.
and thanks. it to take it slow and right
did you put anything in to start the cycle? I know some people say it will start with just die off from the rocks, i just put a shrimp in mine to get it started. I wouldnt change your water until the cycle is over unless the ammonia is really really high in which case do like Nissan said and do a little change. Otherwise i think you are just starting your cycle. Any new information on the water parameters?
raw shrimp or cooked?
I was going to wait a day. I have noticed some stuff has died off in the tank. I found a crab dead. I dont know why that would be. everything is perfect but the ammonia level.
Ammonia killed the crab. You don't have to add shrimp because your tank is already cycling, hence the ammonia. Just keep an eye on it, it should start to come down and your nitrites will go up and then down. What is your ammonia reading now? I would only do a water change if the ammonia is over 1.0 and only a small one at that.

what is the heck could be causing this? My trites and trates are at zero. Exactly .0
I tested the water a few days ago and it was fine. It was around 1. I did a water change because it was so freaking cloudy. Now its through the roof.
Stuff is turning white in my tank. This is a nightmare
