I did one 3 days ago. It was fine before the change. Now its off the chart. I will do one again. How long should I wait till I test it again. These small tanks are harder than big tanks.

through the roof still. I dont understand. I have lots of grass looking stuff that came with the rock dying on me. Could that be the reason?

I did a water change two days ago. waited 24 hours re tested it. Still crazy. I use Tap water and condition it. Its in my bigger tank. My bigger tank has been up and running for almost a year and no issues. Everytime I do water change its fine in 24 hours.
The tank has cleared up a lot. It actually looks really good. Im just going to wait a about 4 days then check it then do another change. Trites and trates are 0 still.

you shouldn't use tap water... thats the reason your having these spikes. it could lead to an algae problem bc the algae will thrive off the nitrate and nitrite in your water too. its an all around bad idea.

+1 DO NOT USE TAP WATER!! and don't due a water change during a cycle. just let it run its course for awhile , don't add anything to the tank. I have NEVER put anything dead in a tank ( not on purpose) and I don't "buffer" anything. My secret is I do weekly water changes ( after tank is well cycled) 10% if you use good salt everything should be fine. Dose , treat , buffer...blah blah blah. If you artificially raise one thing you lower another , I have had GREAT success just leaving it alone
JMO

BTW , tank looks great , dont worry mon it will be fine

My trites and trates are at 0. They have been since day 1. My other tank has been up for a almost a year. I have used Tap water wth zero issues. That tank had fish in it in a week. My ammonia levels were fine within that week.

I was thinking two clowns. Im not doing a lot of corals. Maybe 3 or 4 at most. I just want something nice neat tidy and cool looking.
My girlfriend loves the clown fish. I like them as well.
My ammonia dropped even more.

well after a few more days the tank settled down great. I got some Corals. I also bought CUC. Some snails 2 peppermint shrimp 6 hermits.
I then waited till they settled in. I tested water again. Did a change with saltwater I got from the store. Picked up a Yasha Goby. I love that fish. Just a baby now. I will get picks of corals up and fish late
