Not sure if know already or not but I have circled a potential problem in your pic below
This type of star fish is called a Asterina. They are known to be a potential predator of zoanthids and a few other soft corals. this does not apply to the whole Asterina family but it does to a few of them. Most consider it better safe then sorry and remove any they may find.

how can i get rid of them? without draining the tank and harm my corals.
i read that they might eat soft corals if the get hungry. the tank will be sps dominated anyway .just waiting for the frags to grow.
i am getting more frags next week

yea, harlequin, but once the asterinas are gone, then the shrimp will die. Unless you want to throw in a Choco Chip every month.
From my understanding, the shrimp will paralyze the CC star before it gets an opportunity to kill coral. I think it would be really cool to try out actually.

yea, harlequin, but once the asterinas are gone, then the shrimp will die. Unless you want to throw in a Choco Chip every month.
From my understanding, the shrimp will paralyze the CC star before it gets an opportunity to kill coral. I think it would be really cool to try out actually.

they dont breed that fast. just take them out when you see them. easy to spot and soon they will be gone. this is not an "OMG hurry up and fix it type problem" it is more of a "hey i should take care of that just in case type of problem"

I have a harlequin in my 65 and I bought it to eat those stars about a year ago or so. My glass was covered with those little asterina stars. I had heard that they killed corals, but I just didnt like the way they looked and they WERE breeding extremely fast.
Within the first day of the harlequin being in the tank he was picking up the stars and eating them like little star shaped cookies. It is really cool to watch. But then, like Woody said once the small stars are all gone he will want chocolate chip stars. But I knew that going into it. Mine will eat one large one per month or two small ones. If I get two small ones I just put one in my refugium and then fatten him up with silversides before feeding him to the shrimp.
He can smell the stars as soon as they are put in the tank. He immediately pops out and starts dancing until he can get his hands on it.

Question... did the CC stars ever get an opprotunity to get to any corals, or was it immediately paralyzed?? From all my research, I came to the conclusion that that it would be okay, but wondering what you had to say. Would you recommend it? Any problems for you, other than having to buy stars regularly?

I think you should go for. I think they are really cool looking, and will be an interesting addition. One of those things you can talk about your tank to other ppl that they will actually be interested in, (rather than explaining to them how the nitrogen cycle works, and having them fall asleep on you.)
