If your going new, have you considered LED's?

what are your plans for water circulation?
I saw someone with an identical tank design and he had eight MP40's on one end of the tank if I remember correctly. It might have been more. But Im pretty sure it was 8.
my existing equipment
swc fdnw 400 skimmer
3 tunze 6205
reeflo dart return
euro reef cr4
4 coralvue 250 watts dimmable ballast
lumenarch 3 mini reflector
jbj chiller
neptune apex
mp40 w is not powerful enough, it can't be wet plus i heard some bad things about it.

MP40....not powerful?!?! WE talking about the same thing?
Im talking about the creme de le creme, of powerheads. The $400 hit I only wish I could afford x2 to solve all my 125g flow fantasies. THe Jessica Alba of powerheads, amazing performance...small package.
You would be a first to tell me they are underpowered, and poor quality.

Theres the video I was talking about. Looks like a nice system, well established. Nothing unhappy in it from what I can tell.
Notice the food particles at the far end of the tank. They are moving pretty fast.

Stephen Hurlock's tank requires a dry box inside the tank, to me its a wasted space and can only directed one way
ching chai tank using 8 tunze 6305
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvtrSw3XQAM
tunze pro
more gallon per hour 7925( 6305) 5,811 (6205)
can be wet
up hold into 1" thick glass
flow can be directed in any position
great customer support ( best in the business handsdown)
con's
needs controller (i have neptune apex so only 20 bucks more for the cable)
more bulky than mp40w but I learn to love it!
mp40 w wet side constantly fall down according to some people on 3/4" thick glass
and not as good of a customer service as roger( tunzeusa)
but it comes with a controller and generate less heat because the motor is outside of the water.
its a matter of preference
as far a dimmable ballast its great !
not only you can adjust the watts+/- (10- 30%) you can also adjust the color temp on 20 k bulbs more watts the whiter
less watts more blue.

by all means no. Im still a fan of them. Ill checkin on this thread from time to time. I like looking at big tank builds.
When I finish my masters, Ill be building my own dream home compleate with dedicated Reef room. So Im keenly interested in the 300g+ size. PErsonally I think I want to go for around 500-800g and have it as a wall dividing rooms. Its still several years away. But start dreaming now....it keeps you motivated ^_^
anywyas, thx for the build thread.
