Very nice.

I bet it is nice to look at something swim around in the tank. Rock just doesn't move to fast.
Yeah, the fish are a great addition. Not that the clowns weren't great but in that 90 gal they seem to have a world of room. I am going to start now with some focus on corals. My LFS is wanting to make a deal of 10 frags 100.00. I will have to look very close and make sure I get as good as a deal as I can but I think really he wants to get some frags out of the store and wants to make what he can. May be a good deal for me needing to get started. Will keep everyone posted.

I almost lost my Jawfish tonight. He went missing today and I thought that he may just be in his hole or hiding in some out of the way spot. I fed and didn't see him. Worried I looked behind the tank and all around. Finally I looked in the overflow and yup he was in there. Anyone got suggestions for keeping fish out of overflow. I thought of an acrylic top for it but I worry that he may jump on top of that and just die that way. I have some plastic screen for a window or door that I may be able to make a "tent" like design for it. That may work. I am also going to use this screen stuff to block off that back opening in my canopy.
Post your thought suggestions.

That does sound like a good deal. Heck even the nano frags that are about the size of a half dollar are 25 bucks here. I thought that was fair. I guess if you can get some cool zoas or even some other stuff, you could make it a steal. Good luck.
I am not really sure on the OF deal. It would seem to me that after a couple of times he would learn to stay away from there. If not, being in the OF is better then being dried out on a screen. Tough call. I don't think I would do anything if I were in your shoes except cover the back so the fish cant do any kind of carpet surfing. Just bounce back into the water.

Yeah, I get what your saying. I am thinking of not laying a net over the top but more of a tent over the top. This way he or anyone else would roll back into the tank. I really dont need to spend a $100.00 before X-Mas but a deal is a deal.

For now I have taken the following actions for the jumper.
Put door screen (cloth) across the back opening. Made, what I think is pretty cool, a support system from fishing line in a tee-pee fashion over the top of the overflow and covered that in the screen as well. Now if he jumps towards the overflow he will fall back in the aquarium.

Got 9 corals today! LFS had a deal on frags for $10.00 each. If you realize that this was not a deal just dont tell me cause I am happy. Also got 2 more critters. A sand sifting starfish and a Blood (fire) shrimp.
Here is the list as I remember it
1. Candy cane
2. 4 mushrooms on 2 rocks. 1 rock was a bonus I cut off another coral.
3. Leather Finger
4. Dragon Green eye button polyps
5. Orange Montipora
6. Hammer Coral
7. Green Star polyp (i think)
8. Fuzzy Grass (maybe)
Ill get pics up as soon as I acclimate the shrimp and starfish.

Ok so tonight marks a bad day for the fire shrimp. I cant get to him and he seems to be missing a couple of legs. I found those in a corner of the aquarium. Not sure who or why.
The list of possibles would be
Suspect # 1 Coral Beauty Angel
Suspect # 2 Jawfish
after that I have a Watchman Goby 2 Clowns 10 Turbo Astera snails and 2 emerald crabs.
What do you think? The Beauty right?

A new thought tonight and possibly evidence. After looking through the aquarium I found what appears to be a leg stuck to the guard of one of the K 4s. I could see him getting up at night on one of those power heads and possibly getting caught up in the blade. Dont really know. I have seen some displays of the Coarl Beauty pushing others around but he/she seems otherwise very docile.

Is it possible that he molted? The reason I ask is I got a good look at him and cant see any physical damage. The other reason I ask is that what I am finding is full of color and I would assume that a molted skeleton would not be so brightly colored.
Just a overly concerned man with a tank. kill me I care!

Sorry for the lack of updates. The Fire Shrimp appears to be perfect in health so I am left to assume, with out a better explination, that he molted. As far as other big news I added a CUC on Dec 3. The list goes like this:
Scarlet Hermit Crab:20
Blueleg Hermit Crab:20
Emerald Crab:5
Coral Banded Shrimp:1
Sally Lightfoot:1
Turbo/Astrea Snail:20
Cleaner Clam :2
Nassarius Snail - Group of 10:1
Had previously added 10 Turbo/Astrea snails and 3 Emerald Crabs.
For some reason my phosphates seem to rise after water changes. Checked the RODI water from my unit and its 0 TDS checked the phosphate to be sure and its 0. I had an algae boom kicking up so thats the reason for the CUC. I also bought and am going to install a GFO. That should stop the phosphates.
Came back from the SEC Championship game this weekend and the tank was as clean as when I started. Havent check water parameters but I will tonight. I think all is well. I still need to post some pictures of the corals but they are still in the frag stage and not as much to appreciate at the moment.

You checked your RO/DI water, did you check it after sdding salt? Maybe the container your mixing your salt water in?

Well I checked the RODI water from the container that I use to hold my RODI. It checked ok in that. I have mixed salt in that but now I try to keep it with just RODI for my top off needs and mix in another container, (same brand Brute can).
Ill do some more checking. I bought a GFO reactor and put it on there and I need to check my parameters tonight. Gotta do that even though I just did a 13 hour day

I imagine that its 0 now. But I have to check. Thanks again for the feed back.

Checked water and all is good.
Phosphates 0
Nitrates 0
Nitrites 0
Ammonia 0
I really think the GFO reactor is responsible for the phosphate number. I haven't changed any other things other than adding a CUC.

Ok so here is how to screw up things when they are going great. Tonight I said hmmmmmmmmm....actually said hmmmmmmmmmmm, Ill put some snails in my sump to help keep it clean. So picked me out 4 nice turbos and in they went. So then the wife and I are just looking at the fish and what not when we here a gurggle. I open the bottom cabinet and see that the sump is just about to overflow!:eek1: Well guess what happened. Yup you guess it, one of the turbos got on my float switch and emptied out my top off tank. Caught it just in time. So now I have to spend some more money on a second switch to prevent overflow. To tell the truth I was gonna do this anyway but hey, thanks MR SNAIL!! Oh yeah did I mention it dropped my salinity in my tank as well. Thats nice. Now Im making some more water so I can do a water change. So my advice to all is watch any thing you do cause you may just flood your house!!
