Well as luck would have it they had some corals.

I dont know what yall think about them but as you can see I couldnt leave without them. I got a birds nest and a purple rim cup.

Knock on wood all is going well. Do for a water change tomorrow. May put that off till Saturday. We are looking down the pipe at a snow storm tomorrow. Go figure... I am already back at the reef store looking for the next frag to come home. I got to find me a purple monti. I may see if the LFS will order me one. Then I dont know. I need some good corals for some darken places in my tank. I built all these caves and such so I got to get some stuff going on in those.
How is our snails. I read you had a murder in your tank. It happens. Came home today and I got a red leg hermit all up in a turbos business

I dont know why we expect things to always go well. I mean the ocean is a mean place and now I have a mean place in my living room. At least its just the inverts and not the fish. They all seem to be happy!

Yeah, I dont know why we think it will be all lovey dovey. my snails are doing great. I love them, I am not too thrilled about the hermits. Lol, they kinda suck. Mean little things. I think those will be the only hermits in my tank. I will stock up on snails in the future. Glad your frags are doing good. I love the purple montis. they are so pretty.

Well, I decided to start killing one of my Montis.
Was doing my checks yesterday before the water change and saw that my Red Monti was bleaching. I tested my parameters and found that my calcium had dipped to around 340

Alkalinity was at 5.5. So off to the LFS I went for some 2 part. I havent been dosing because with the weekly water changes my parameters have all been good. I guess the last additions and a bloom of coraline algae has been taking more than previous. So now its on to the, "am I to late to save the Monti", question?

Yeah not happy. I hate to live and learn like that. My tank balance changed with a drop of a couple of corals and what once was a constant became a dramatic change in chemistry. Although the amount of corals and what I would think would be the small impact to the tank was actually a significant impact. So the lesson here is dont add to much at once and check your parameters every time you do. Sounds familiar cause I think I heard that somewhere before!!

No nothing else seems to be affected. I think I caught it in time and made adjustments. I am dosing now but its a PITA to get it just right. I guess when thats done it wont be such a big deal. I need to get some dosing pumps next as I do plan to have a vacation and it certainly wont go 5 days without dosing.

Ok after trying to get Jax to go to the store and buy a fish I had to go and see what the LFS had today. So it was a frog spawn that I couldn't do without. 3 head for $82.50 tax and all.
Take a look!
