Many around here don't agree with Karen on this subject. Her views are very strong on feeding and can be insulting to many who have been successfully keeping anemones with very little or no feedings. Karen is just a nice lady who chooses to share her personal experiences with others. I have respect for her as I would for anyone who is successful keeping anemones and would be so kind as to share her wisdom and personal photos to help others. Her site is an excellent source of information but she has some very severe critics. The feeding subject is the most touchy so maybe in the future don't quote her, try Wetwebmedia.com next time

Agreed 100%. That from Karen seems a bit out of line. It's rude, agrumentive, and unintelligent (it's bologna after all). She completely dismisses people's personal experiences, based off just her own experience. And makes some broad generalizations that certainly don't hold true (can't remember the last time I feed my 2 year old frogspawn that's certainly not dead
), and seems to omit a complete lack of understanding zooxanthellae/host relationship.

Not an expert, but with mine I feed chunks o' shrimp once or twice a month. Most of the time it eats the same mysis shrimp that I feed the other critters. The chunk of shrimp is more or less a treat (of course "treat" implies that there is appreciation involved, I doubt that my LTA could give a fuzzy behind about appreciation) If it takes it, cool.. If not, then the bottom dwellers and clean-up crew have a heyday. Of course, that's if they can get some from the puffer. Everybody wins.

I would say I agree that anemones are prolly eating something meat related in tanks whether you give it to them or not. They may catch it from the water column or from somewhere else. The same with frogspawn and other corals. You are using phytoplankton right? Well all the corals eat that. Even when anemones pull water into themselves, they are eating the nutrients out of it. Now do you need to personally spot feed the anemone? Perhaps not, but I am guessing that your anemone will do better with an occasional peice of food, like 2x per month.

It really depends upon your lighting. Spot feeding is nessesary when lighting is inadequate. My lighting is great but I still spot feed occasionally as insurance to keep them in tip top shape. Nothing but the best for my babies.

My advice would be to wait a few days and try again since you have PC lighting. Try something smaller like mysis or krill, chopped into small pieces. Only feed a tiny amount uneaten food is not good for your bioload. Maybe consider upgrading to at least T5's sometime in the future.
