My Clown Died

Ok, I called back home today to see if my sick male true perc was still alive...my little brother told me the bad news, he was laying on the sand dead...with a huge divot in him..the disease did it....I dont know what to do, my brother took him out of the tank...I dont know how long he was in there dead....so should I be worried about my other clown...please help me! I cant believe what I did....I didnt have a qt set up

Someone...do I have to worry now about my ammonia be ing high and my other fish and crabs and shrimp and snails dying??!!!! Please!

how old is your tank? do you have LR and LS or what? If you have a good amound of LR that can handle the amonia, then your probably ok.

another thought, clowns are pretty hardy, I know peeps that cycle with them. Good luck.

It is 2 months old on the 14th this month.....I have 30lbs of fiji liverock..50lbs of sand.....I cant believe...it...what should I do!:nope:

But what i dont get..I have had the fish over a month now...I have the microalgae i think...the stuff that loks like weeds?

Please ignore Beaslbob, he's not the experienced hobbiest he attempts to portray.
I don't think your Clown was dead long enough to cause much damage. I would let the tank be as it is and maintain your water change schedule. Test for Ammonia and Nitrite and report back if it's high. It's probably going to be fine.

Sometimes, I hate to say, it just happens I had a perc for three months with good water quality and he up and died one night. Everyone else in the tank was fine and is still alive a year later. I never did figure out what happened to the poor little guy.

But it had a disease..and yes it was a true percula...I now only have the female true perc..will she be ok..my brother back home says she wont swim on that side of the tank where the male died..should I be worried..I am not at home right now with my tank and I wont be able to check on it till tuesday...check out my other thread on diesease and treatment and look at the pic of what my clwon had...please help!

The pictures just weren't clear enough to see what was the problem. As a wild guess I would say an injury that became infected. It should not be contagious.
The dead fish has been removed, right?

Yes, this morning my little brother found him and I had him take him out...he flushed him thoug....witch i wished he wouldnt off..but i cant do ne thing about it now!

Yer in good shape man. Unfortunately in this hobby these things happen, it won't be the last time and if the fish is out, then the amonia is as hi as it could get as a result of that fish being in there... if the female was suffering from that fish dying, then you'd know it by now. Keep us posted.

She'll be fine. Percula Clown are very territorial. In the wild they often spend their entire life in a 4 square foot area.
