that's great- not the eating part but the fact that they laid eggs-
Do you plan to grow babies out or just let them be?

NO, I am not going to raise any :( The issue is with the lack of products available to me....it is too hard for me to get what is required
AND I do not have the time (OR SPACE) for brine hatcheries or fry tanks
I wonder why they ate them? ANYONE KNOW???? there is just white dots now

That is so cool meowzer, I think the white one's are infertile and the reds one's are fertilized, did they move them by any chance. I wish mine would spawn.
Is that in your big tank 225?

IDK.....If they did I can't see them......It really looked like they were laying them, then eating them....LOL

Well if they eat them there won't be any color to them at all. They should be an orange color. If they ate them it might because they are frightened. This is an instinct to retain the nutrients they expended to lay them before a predator can eat them. If you stay away from the tank until they are done they are less likely to eat them. Mine usually bite at the anemone to make a spot for the eggs underneath it. After they are done the anemone relaxes back into place and the eggs are protected from predators, and photographers

Congrats! Now we just need to get them into an anemone!

If this is their first spawn, don't be surprised to see them eat quite a few. The first couple of spawns produce a lot of waste, and the female gets exhausted so to get quick nutrients back into her system, she will eat a lot of them, which in turn the male will do because men are followers, LOL
Mine spawn every 2 weeks, like two horny teenagers left home alone. They eat about 1/4-1/3 of the eggs throughout the week. Even the orange ones. They thin out the herd, I guess something about the egg looks bad to them. It's cool to watch the eggs progress throughout the week, even if you don't intend to raise the fry. Throughout the week, you'll see them, especially the male "mouth" the eggs to keep them free of algae, etc. It's pretty neat the way they care for them.

LOL...They both ate the eggs ....I know I won't breed any....I just don't have the time or availability to get what would be needed

I don't breed mine most of the time either, but I do enjoy watching them care for them all week. Both mine eat eggs too. Don't be surprised if they eat the entire first few batches.

It often takes a few trial runs before they get the spawning thing done right where the eggs actually get fertilized. They will eat any unfertilized, dying, or infected egg so it doesn't contaminate the rest. If they ate all of the eggs then my guess is that their timing was off and none of them got fertilized.
