I had occasion to do a hospital trip a few years ago. Because of a SNAFU with paperwork they thought I was uninsured. They offered to settle out a 2400.00 bill for just over 400.00. I realize your dad will be dealing with a whole lot more than that but it might not end up being as bad as you think.
