i got to give you props for having the talent and "brass" to go and build a duel skimmer. Good for you and good job, looks nice and looks like its working.

ALSO YOU SAY "that pic was taken when the skimmer was first tried out and it did leak a little" WELL IF IT WAS IS THEN HOW DID THE JACK DANIELS BOTTLE IS LINED WITH BLACK GUNK? AND A SMALL LEAK WOULD NOT MAKE A PUDDLE LIKE THE ONE TO THE RIGHT OF THE "SKIMPER" EITHER WAY YOU DON'T HAVE TO GET ALL DEFENSIVE UNLESS YOU KNOW THAT IM RIGHT

WOW ILL USE CAPS TOO SO I CAN BE COOL LIKE YOU.
The reason that bottle is black is because i was using it on my other skimmer before i installed this one. look back thru the pics and you will see a EV-180 skimmer and this bottle was used for it.
and a small leak would make a puddle like that when its been leaking for about 2 hours.
look at the water you think came from the airtube, why is it on the other side of the skimmer? because its coming from the left side of the toilet flange. Your right tho in that pic i did have water leaking from the airtube but a little pvc glue fixed that right up. It was about 1 or 2 drops every 4 or 5 mins. But the major leak was in fact from the toilet flange, its the leak i had problems with so its the LEAK i refer to. sorry if there was any confusion on that.
The reason im so defensive has nothing to do with possible leaks but how you delivered your advice. example : THAT PIECE OF SHAT IS A EYE SORE, BUY A REAL SKIMMER NOT A SKIMPER PLEASE TAKE IT DOWN MY EYES HURT.
Maybe you should try to be more respectful if you expect the same in return. If im out of line then im sorry but i believe the way i acted was appropriate.

Whatever, LOL.. I think it is a nice first DIY skimmer. There is gonna be one person in every crowd. Congrats on the skimmer.

I see no reason to attack or come off as an A-hole to someone who tried a DIY skimmer. At least he did it found out what had to be fix or reengineered and posted it, that take "brass".
Me,.... I would not even have the wherewithal to do it let alone the "brass" to deal with my wife if and when I F-ed it up.
You may not have meant “take it down my eyes hurt” to be mean you have meant it to be funny but even for me, I took it as an attack and mean spirited.
It’s a DIY project that means not always getting right the first time you try. You live and learn and once you get it right, you will be able to help others avoid the pitfalls that you got stuck in.
I applaud you and all the DIY who want and can go and build stuff

your right im sure he meant it to be funny but at the time i didn't feel that was the intent. maybe it was the CAPS that made me believe it was just an attack at my efforts at my DIY skimmer.

Someone green with envy here??? Dont worry about posts like this, I think you did a fine job. Sure there are things that can be done better next time, but hey the saying "back to the drawing board" was made famous for a reason. Its all about trial and error, R&D is the first step to making something work and look great, and your next one will probably be much better than this one (and this one is good). Good job, keep up the DIY work!!!!
