My father clean my tank with dishwasher soap

What do I need to do? My father was over my house and he was cleaning the inside of my tank with dishwasher soap and a sponge. I am going to do a 50% water change. Is that going to be ok? Thanks for your input. I have three tang and some mushrooms.

try put your live stuff in another tank with some new water..Id say do a BIG water change and run LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of carbon

definately big water change....maybe you can get a large QT up somehow just in case to move stuff to.

i'm sorry i can't imagine anyone of adult stature would be dumb enough to clean anything living in water with dish soap.

the LFS used to recomend my dad do that......
not saying they were a good LFS, jsut saying that some people do suggest it, and others dont know better or think that the suggester knows enough to listen.

sponge or clean towel etc, yes maybe, SOAP, heck no! ??? Do you remember having to eat the soap for bad words when you were little? I bet your dad was one of those.. mine was!

Was there dried up left overs stuck on the inside of the tank? I dont believe any fish store would suggest such an idiotic way of cleaning for living creatures. Please dont post flat out garbage. so were there fish and water in the tank at the time or not? This obviously makes no sense with a tank full of water and fish still in it.
