We discovered a mouse yesterday. Had no idea he was here until we saw him run out from under the entertainment center and into the closet. The hubbs got traps today.
Four cats in this house and we have a mouse WTH?!

Check for any gaps around water pipes in the ******** of your house (under the sink etc.) That was my problem and soon as I plugged them .... no more mice. This is the time of year when they seek warmth and food.

Okay....if they start eating my food or if I find any droppings, I'm gonna get sick.

Use peanut butter in the traps. Not sure if you want the details but it is the best thing to put on the trap trigger. You should also attach a string to the trap and tie the string to something. Again not sure if you want the details.

BTW mice traps are no problem, the rat traps are what scare me.
Afraid they will break a finger.

My husband already put PB on the traps, and I'll have him attach them to something with a string. And thanks for sparing me the details.

.....just make sure your cats won't accidentally get their delicate tails or paws or whiskers caught in these devices of death & destruction. and please, promise me, PROMISE ME, with beloved animals in your house, you will not use poison

Pick up an electronic mouse scarer...thingy. Sorry, I can't think of the name of it off hand. You just plug it in and something about the sound that it makes keeps mice away. I used to get them this time of year in the kitchen. I have had this little gadget for awhile now and have not seen one since.

Yeah, I love this thing. I have a problem killing animals that are just trying to live. At the same time, they are not welcome to live HERE. With this lovely device they just don't seem to come around anymore.

if there are any droppings to be found they will be within 3 inches of the walls/baseboards mice have bad vision and 'feel' their way around so they almost always walk along walls and in front of furniture not across open spaces

I don't blame you but rats are another story.
We used to have rats and we'd catch them and toss em into a stock pond still alive. And the old catfish would come up and take care of them....
