She had a perforated bowel and peritonitis. They had to remove part of her small intestine and colon.
With her other health issues I am very worried about her. Please say a little prayer for her. Her name is Margaret.

She's in my prayers. I work with a lady that's in her early 70's and she had the same thing happen to her. It was a slow recovery, but she's fine now. I hope that gives you some comfort.

I went and saw her yesterday morning. She was doing ok, though in pain. She was starting physical therapy so they could get her up and walking. I will be heading to the hospital in an hour or so, but they prob wont let me in the room. I am getting sick.

Glad to hear your mother's doing well. Sorry you are not. Will continue to pray for her and add you to the list.

My mom and Stepdad had the more radical version of the surgery due to cancer and both bounced back really fast. The Stepdad had really bad emphysema on top of it and he actually did better than my mom afterward. A close family friend had a lousy diagnosis and was in and out of the hospital for a couple months from a perforation. Once they discovered the problem and did the surgery she bounced back really fast as well and she had been near death at one point.
They really have this type of surgery pretty much perfected now days, Your mom should be able to recover from it fairly well even with other problems.

Thanks for everyones well wishes. I wish she was doing better. She is still in the hospital and not doing so good today. They can't get a handle on the peritonitis. They are changing her antibiotics today.
They are also talking about sending her to a rehab facility. She is very depressed and told my dad to just let her go and cremate her. I talk to her nurse today about this.

I did about 5 months in a rehab after the car wreck, depression is a definite issue, good that you are going to get a handle on that quick.
