I'm in shock, the tank is finally installed.
I freakin love how much access I have to the tank with this canopy design, it's designed almost perfectly so that when the retrofit lights are installed they are centered on the tank and I still have incredible access to the tank because of the piano hinge hood design

Lots of storage and getting ready to start the plumbing install

Looking really good so far. Are you going to have any special type of equipment that you are going to use? I.E. Ca Reactor, Kalkwasser stirrer, Fluidized sandbed filter, UV sterilizers, phosphate reactor, chiller, etc?
I am starting a 240 myself and on this tank I am concentrating on the equipment more then the livestock.

I've changed directions with how I'm goign to setup this tank, I'm going "Old School" on this one, skimmerless with tons of LR and lots of waterflow and frequent water changes, kinda out to prove a point that you don't have to have every gadget on the planet to have a thriving reef tank.
No skimmer, no chiller, no reactor, no canister filter, no UV. The only exception to my low-tech approach will be the addition of a Neptune Jr Controller because I have really odd hours and also the use of a auto topoff
I've slowly moved about 75lb of fully cured LR into the tank, still have another 300-350lbs to add which is comming from my established 125 thats on the otherside of town in one of my retail stores, that why its going so slow.

I own stores in the pet/dog industry (no puppy sales) and Max is the #1 dog name.....Can't imagine life without my Boxers, I have 3. A male german reverse brindel, a fawn/white mask female and another female whitemask brendel

I'll be using a 2 part dosing system, probably B-Ionic. Yeah, having extra room under a tank is something kinda new to me, last tank didn't even have room for the C-Reactor and chiller so it sat on the floor, outside of the tank.

Today is moving day!!!!!.....
This is going to take some serious organization, the 125g is about 15minutes away in a busy retail store, I have several pools already setup at home. I plan on moving everything in 5g buckets and keep everything submerged in water to minimize any chance of dieoff.
Here's a pic of part of the aquascaping, I didn't realize that it was going to be such a pain to get the rocks into place, this mound is about 24" tall and maybe 30" across, I just purchased all the corals in this pic from a guy who's gettingout of the hobby, lighting sux as I'm still using a single 250w MH fixture and don't have the new lights mounted into the canopy
I was going to make this a low tech tank, just lights, waterflow, lots of LR a sump and nothing else, I've since changed my mind as I have a considerable amount of money invested in livestock,
Found a good lead on a used Euroreef skimmers, already have a a MRC calcium reactor and a autotop off, I'll install all of this equipment later in the week

Going to move all of this into the new tank

Thanks, I seriously forgot how much work this would be to move this tank...put it off as long as possible and now I have to get it done.....
Just noticed that you were in West Sac, we moved from the Pocket area to Las Vegas, kinda miss Capital Aquariums and the other one over by the fish and chips (kinda odd having an aquarium store next to a fish and chips LOL)
We used to own a store on "K" street and another one in historic Folsom.

I'm in the process of retiring (sp) and I'm selling of all my retail stores, this last store I sold had the 125g behind the cash register island. Part of the deal was that the tank DID NOT come with the store

OMG....What a royal pain this has been, not really complicated or anything, but just messy and lots of work....can't really hire a moving company or anything, or I would have

The first wave of buckets have been moved and ready for adding to the tank, this move consisted of all the major corals and LR that had no live organisms attached, as I had to create the base for the aquascaping. There were a total of 8 five gallon buckets and 2 large coolers that had the corals in zip lock bags. I also had a 80g pool setup to empty buckets as I want to sift thru all the stuff for snails, critters etc that I want to keep.
This was a major operation as I had to aquascape and move at the same time so I spent most of yesterday looking at all the LR to figure out how I wanted things arranged, for the most part it went off fairly easy as I just placed the LR where I thought I wanted it and then started placing corals
I worked from right to left and now have 1 more trip for the other LR to complete the left hand side of the tank, nice things is that the corals that were just placed have already opened , only thing that sux is my frogspawn broke into 3 pieces, it was about the size of a basketball

Here is the first truckload of buckets

This is the tank with a pile of LR in the L corner that I have to arrange and then place the corals

This is a pic after the aquascaping and now I have to make 1 more trip to get the other LR to finish the L side of aquascaping and pick up a few things that may be floating or roaming around the tank, I know there are tons of misc zoa's, still have to get the fish and the lights. (lighting fromthis tank is the lights for the new tank)

Sounds cliche, but 911 destroyed our business...our volume dropped by 70% and never recovered, we were already planning to move and figured "why not now" so we packed up and opened stores in Vegas, best thing we ever did! Besides we had been flipping homes on the sdie for a few years and had made serious bank
