I already have soldering kit and soldering iron so I didn't need to buy those.
Aluminum PCB boards will act as heat sink, I will also add a spacer in between the PCB and the final aluminum casing that I will be purchasing from Home Depot and allow air cooling do it's thing.
Its spaced far enough and with open canopy design that I have, it shouldn't be a problem. Also if it needs be, I will drill the outer aluminum shell for better cooling.

manicured hands hahaha. As a sales person who deals with alot of people, I make sure my personal hygiene is in check at all times. That means clean and trimmed nails, brushing teeth after every meal, well shaved and groomed. I deal with rings alot and it's unprofessional to have messy hands that will take anything away from my product.

Richard, this is fantastic!! You and I can do a great side-by-side comparison with our LED choices. I was very tempted to go this route, but wound up deciding on the overseas 120w units with 55 3w bulbs (they clearly underdrive them). In fact, I'm ordering my first one THIS WEEK to test on the horse tank. Not sure how long shipping will take. But I'm following along with extreme interest because I may want to add some color upgrades to my lighting after the fact - a bar of UV, perhaps.

Thanks Rick, I'm itching to get started but unfortunately I'm tied down to a big project at work and won't be able to start on it until tomorrow... I have been feeling like crap last couple of days and hopefully it will be better tomorrow so it won't effect my schedule with this... whew~
I went this route because I have spent WAY too much money on my tank these days and had to cut corners lol. I got a dimmer on my LEDs so I will be going from 1w and raising them gradually.

Ugh, sorry to hear you're feeling low. There's a bug going around town, man. I think our waitress Friday night was sick.....we got home from dinner and Michelle's throat was scratchy. By midnight she was coughing, and her glands were swollen. By Saturday morning she was full-blown sick, coughing up crud, the whole chest cold routine. Fastest I've ever seen her get sick.
I've been talking care of her, but staying away from her as if she had the plague. Which I suspect she has.
I officially ordered my lights today. 2 to 3 weeks. Fingers crossed for me that I don't get screwed by this guy.

ahhh hit a little snag... my close friend's grandmother passed away on top of my not so feeling good self... I'm putting this off for next couple of days... sorry for the late updates... not being able to do this kills me but some things come first.

I'm back from my week long cruise and back to work... (got off the port around noon and was literally at work by 12:30pm)
