Sorry for lack of update guys. I was extremely busy with personal life. I had to relocate my store and it was very stressful and time consuming.
But everything is ready so I will post everything.

Picked up aluminum bars from home depot. These will work as heat sink for my LED stars. Here I'm using special adhesive to glue all the
LEDs in to place.

LEDs glued, bars cut and welded.

Drying the adhesive

Painted to match my canopy.
I couldn't take pictures of wiring them. (not enough hands lol)
But it's very simple. Solder positive wire to positive and negative to negative and keep it going.

Let there be LIGHT!
My UVs in 120 degree lens. (Ordered 60 degree angle because 1 that I had ordered didn't fit correctly)

Blues, UV, Red and green.

All the lights on together

My canopy was heavily damaged over the years and was falling apart. Solution?
Add wood glue and nail some bars to fit LEDs better and to fortify overall structure.

I would like to thank my buddy Tray for all the idea, help and all the work that he has put into this fixture.
Next post will contain the tank shots with the 60 degree led lens from Rapid LEDs.

222 was the total after rapid led lens inclusion.
Would have been 200 if lens were ordered correctly in the first place. :/

So, you built an LED Unit for $222?
I am reading back in the thread, did you include a couple of potentiometers?

You mean a dimmer for the voltage controller? If not, no sir I did not.

Yeah, dimmer. I think I would have to add a couple to my build, if I did DIY.
You said "But it's very simple. Solder positive wire to positive and negative to negative and keep it going." All of the diagrams that I have seen say positive to negative... Can you further elaborate why you chose this array?

Seth, shawn nailed it on the head. Honestly I was just reading from there. Luckily for me, my friend Tray knew what he was doing and showed me how it is done lol.
Thanks guys for the compliments. I will post more pics once I get the lens from rapid leds.

Positive from driver connects to the positive contact on the first led in the circuit. From there you connect the negative contact from that first led to the positive pad on the second led then keep repeating. The negative contact on the very last led in a particular circuit/string gets connected to the negative wire to the driver.

Thanks for the explanation.
So, ... after educating myself on LEDs from various websites... building a DIY LED unit is going to be pretty easy, actually. lol. Sip - you did an amazing job keeping your cost low on this build. If you could, please let me know where you ordered your stuff from so that I can look into it. PM me the details please.

Corey - yea, i wanted the bang without breaking my back for it. After selling my equipments that I don't use any more and all the electricity that I will save, I'm way on the plus side.
Seth - Ebay! lol, I will send you the links tomorrow at work.

LOL I did the ebay thing when I built the little 9W fixture I have on my 12g tank. This was back when 1W LEDs were still the rage. Richard, the fixture looks really interesting...I like it!!

I have since then decided that I will add 30 more lights. I'm going to have an par party in my tank lol.
20 more whites and 10 more extreme royal blues.
I ordered BIG drivers to put the whites and the blues together so there will be less clutter in the tank.
