I've wanted to do something like this for some time. Just wanting an update on how hard it is to keep. Just wondering if it is too much work to enjoy or anything of the sort.

its really not hard. just top off in the morning, afternoon, and night. I keep a water-bottle full of salt water, so my top offs are easy. i do a water change once a week...when i get my sexy shrimp i'll do two changes a week. It's so small that it's not a hassle...if you make one, post a pic of it!

I saw earlier pics of your 12 gallon and was wondering if you use a protein skimmer. If so, what brand. I am just getting my 12 gal. Eclipse system going. I am getting ready to put in some live rock to cycle now that I have the water ready. Thanks,

I have a 15 Gallon and I am really wanting a smaller tank like yours. I know I posted above
but would you recomend this system? I would like something 3 Gallons or smaller so is there a better set up or is this Red Sea tank, light and filter a great buy(does it come with anything else)? How long did it take to cycle? Do your parameters flux a lot?
I can't think of any more questions right now, just give me as much info as you can

Edit: Recomended clean up crew?
Thank you!

No, i dont use a skimmer on my 12g, but i heard the AquaC Remora nano works good.

JBJ makes a nice 3 gallon with 9w 50/50 pc ( i cant find a 7w 50/50 to fit so colors dont look as good.) The filter is also the same as the Red sea. It didnt really go through a cycle because i took everything from my 12 gallon. Other than my salinity, my peramiters dont flux. As long as you top off as often as you can, it shoud be ok. As for a clean up crew, i have 2 very small blue leged hermet crabs.

welllll i am still waiting for my sexy shrimp! lol oh well...I saw this reeeaaallly tiny panda goby (smallest fish i ever saw) he is soooo cute, so I am thinking about buying him. I'm just not sure if i want to spend $18 on something that small lol. other than that everything is the same... but my coral is growing quite a bit! and my zoos are turning a lovely lime green!

Awesome little tank. I was thinking about doing something like that, I heard they were a bit to hard to keep stable. I can't imagine something that small. My 95gal seems a bit small.

Buy the panda goby!!! I am a real sucker for clown gobies(especally the panda colored ones!) In fact i've been thinking about setting up a 5.5 gal for a pair but convincing my parents isn't as easy as planning another tank. good luck with your lil' PICO!! :happyfish

Yea, we used the same lighting that it came with and the tank is acrilic. We decided to take it down beacause it got dirty real easily and our lfs never got the sexy shrimp that I wanted.

thats goods!
would this list work
mushrooms, xenia, gorgonian, small colony of those tiny feather dusters (duster cluster), hard tube coco worm, cactus plant, 2 cerith snails, and a pair of pygmy seahorses
and i was reading your post
and saw that you where haveing problems with the color of your tank (you couldn't find one of those blue lights that fits) would i be able to fix that problem by getting a moonlight and leeve it on 24/7 to add more blue.
check out my post to add your opion
