Again, sorry for all of the questions Drewsta, im really new to this.
But, when i get my 30 G and i paint the background black like yours, do i actually spray paint the glass? or is it a type of paper or something that goes onto the back?

Buy some of the blue painters tape, use news paper to cover the top and use the painters tape to cover all the edges you don't want to paint. Just make sure you get FLAT BLACK spray paint not gloss or anything, and it always comes out great 1 coat should do it
Good luck
p.s. You will paint the glass directly, in the future if you want it off you can use a razor blade and it will chip right off

i appreciate it man, thanks for answering every question i threw at you. It's easy to trust the advice from people when you've seen how gorgous their tank is.

Drew,
I am looking into getting a 180 LONG due to the height of my current 120g. Your tank looks great BTW. I am 6'0 and here is me beside my tank tonight. The pic shows that working in the tank ain't easy!

Here's hubby standing next to our 150 when we got it, he is freaking out about the height, it looked so much smaller in the store. Of course forget me doing anything from mid tank on down, i am only 5'3". so forget it

Oh, you mean my stressed out Puffers

Sorry, I couldn't resist!
Buying this tank was a mistake in not looking ahead. I never thought about how hard it would be to move things around, cleaning, feeding corals, ... w/o the use of my mini-ladder like you use. One time I was stretching inside trying to reach a rock and I almost slipped and my reaction was to grab the canopy (that could have been a HUGE accident). Needless to say I don't do that any more. The real pain came when I added the halides which is the reason for the tall canopy. Still have the old one that I need to sell
I can't remove the canopy by myself and you have to worry about the wires and basically it's just a pain. I have adjusted to the tank size by buying long maintenance devices! But in summary, to get anything done properly, the canopy has to come off and the ladder comes out

My girlfriend and I are thinking about upgrading to a 120 and we're wondering if your tank is a Oceanic Tech series or not? Plus what size sump are you using?
Thanks
