i use via aqua ocean pure pro its a lil cheaper but good quality ive tested it at 80 degrees and 1.025sg or 35
anyways i got a calcium reading of 460 a magnesium of 1470 an alk of 9dkh and a ph of 8.2
it has no phosphates or any other bad things in it
i used RO/DI water from my house when mixing it
i run it on my 100g reef seems to work good

I like Instant Ocean, mixes real easy. It may not be the best but it is not the worst, and it mixes nicely.

What did the alkalinity come out as?
Double check those scores with LFS?
Old test kit?
What test kit are you using?
What a waste of money, another quality control issue from Aquarium Pharmaceuticals ~ makers of Instant ocean and Reef Crystals. Call the number on the bucket, contact Bob Studt or something like that..Tell them they have yet another quality control issue. They may repalce the salt like they did for me.

im using salifert test kits. i tried calling aquarium systems headquarters seem to be closed.... or did u call marineland labs? let me know and ill call. im going to try to mix my salt in cold rodi water and sprinkle slowly see if it dissolves faster and get higher levels.... but yea very very very crappy chemistry here once i mix this ill take current tests of alk/ca/mg when i mix this....

And just to help reefreak out it is Tropic Marin, and yes it is the best salt going IMHO. I like Kent as well. Have tried many others and the quality is not there. Just tried Seachem reef salt with wifes tank, that stuff doesn't mix well at all leaves flakes of unabsorbed salt in the tub. Although parameters were good.

I'll say it one more time Tropic Marin. You get what you pay for i.e. good and bad. I have tested 7 salts and nothing I have tryed compares to Tropic Marin. Could be willing to try this Ocean Pure from Via Aqua if someone could give some tests. Although I have never seen it for sale. Are you guys getting it online? Murph I love your reef and you always give sound advice, I respect your opinion. Should I try this Ocean Pure?

I think you should double check the scores with your LFS like Thomas suggested.
-- has been known to be very consistent from batch to batch. The calcium in -- salt should be around 450-470, mag at about 1400, and alk at 12-13 dkh.

they dont test for calcium... but i took my test to them and tested THERE water and my salifert gave me a good result with there tanks so its not my test kit....... its the dam salt... and its every bucket... lol
