The law abiding citizen isn't going to carry into an establishment that requests "No Guns".
Do you think a criminal is going to disarm because of a sign?
Not particularly. But the thought of even so called law abiding citizens carrying guns they can't see scares people as well. Not everyone who commits a gun crime had a previous record.

Yeah, clearly there is some ignorance on the other side as well.
Recently there was a teacher who panicked because one of her students thought a cloud looked like a handgun. She had asked her students to draw what they saw in the cloud formations. One kid drew a handgun prompting the teacher to have a panic attack and send him to the principal. OMG panicking over a drawing like it's going to magically come to life and start shooting.
