My tank.

So I started my tank as FOWLR.

Very pretty fish but kinda bland... I work alot so never really wanted to get into corals...
Many of you guys know what has happened in last couple of months and long story short, I jumped into world of corals...
After a month and close to 300 bucks later... (including metal halide light kit)

Red brain coral that's tri-colored. (got it for $25!)

Neon Green plate that I picked up for $20

Zoos that I picked up for $15

Last but not least, frogspawn that I picked up for $12.
I know it's not the most beautiful reef yet but I'm trying to put things together with what I have so far. Hopefully I can keep them all alive and add to it down the road.
Thanks for looking. If you have any tips or anything please feel free to leave a comment. Have a great day!

The tank really looks lovely with the corals in it. I can never keep my FOWLR's as just that, they always end up with some sort of coral in them.
I LOVE that Corris Wrasse!

It's a lovely tank and you need to do now is sit back and watch it grow. The toad stool will grow really fast. Unless you want Green star polyps on every rock I think you should move it's rock to the sand, so it can't spread without your intervention. The hammer looks happy, but it's too close to other coral...it will sting and kill the coral around it....so when it grows keep a close eye out and be ready to move it..or move the other coral now so it can grow free and you won't have to worry, lettuce/cabbage coral has a habit of connecting to all the rock and it's hard to move without hurting it later.
I assume you changed out fish, because what is in that first picture were many beautiful, but not reef save fish.

Hi BTL and Flower.
Both me and my wife were so happy yesterday. She got the red brain coral and xenias that she wanted and I got everything else that I wanted.
Fish wise, I know I'm cruel and bit selfish by stunting their growth in a small tank but I can't bear to part with them...
I traded in the queen angel and raccoon butterfly fish so that residents of my tank won't feel as couped up and also that they don't tear up the corals.
None of my fish grew within the year or so except the clown. (he's one of the newest fish that I got when I lost my mind and purchased like 5 fish at once only to return most of them..)
now I have to keep my eyes out on EVERYTHING... calcium, nitrates, phosphates, alk etc etc... sigh....
a lot of work...
Flower, will do and move that cabbage coral out of the way.
I kinda like the green star polyps, I will discuss it with my wife lol. (it's actually sitting in 3 rocks so I will just give one rock later to my friend when it latches on it and grows on it like crazy.

Looks great so far .....I use to buy (still do) a lot of frags because large corals are so expensive...so my tnak after 3 years is still growing...LOL
just sit back and watch...and take pics to compare things with....you will be surprised at the growth you DON'T notice cause you see the tank every day

Thanks Meowser.
My wife is bit upset that I spent so much money but she understands.
I promised her that I will only buy couple of more pieces and just let it grow after that. (I have my eye out on a blue metallic mushroom rock and pink hammer both of them for $25 each on clearance section on my lfs) Yea will do on taking pictures to compare them.
You guys have been helping me so much, I just wanted to share what was going on and fruits of your answers were coming to. ;)
Anythings that I should keep my eyes on? Tips?

I love that brain. For some reason, I cannot keep them alive. I blame my lemon peel angel.

Thanks Gemmy, I have a flame angel in there and I'm keeping my eye on her too... so far they seem to coexist well but it's only been a week since first batch of corals went in so we will see how that goes... yea, brain is one of my favorite corals..
scott - thanks, we all start somewhere and I'm flattered that you would even consider my tank to be one of the standards when there are so many users with mini oceans in their tanks.
I'm a coral noob and I'm just starting out with frag parts, trying to see what I can do to keep them all alive and happy.

Thanks Jerth, yea this has been taking up all my time these days.
Can't afford all the big corals and put it all over so yes, frag is definitely the way to go for me lol.
Had tested the water parameters today and found out my alk level is 3 times higher then what it should be... so I did a quick 10g water change... don't have alk test kit at my house so I'm going to send out my wife to lfs to get it tested... hopefully all will be well.
going to add couple of more things this week, hopefully a nice new coupon will pop out.

Looks real nice!! You have some nice fish too. Keep up the good work!!
Frags are the way to go (unless you got some big bucks). But sometimes its nice to get one or two bigger pieces so you don't have to wait to see what it looks like all grown out. Keep the pics coming!!
