Wow... what a fail on that guy's part? I hate when people automatically assume. But I guess I'm guilty of that as well working in retail.... -__-;
Flower - there must not be a good lfs near by since you buy alot from online.
Well I have the Petland, those people...don't get me started...Petland does carry salt mixes and suppliments, I got a nice cleaner shrimp from them.....their coral is covered in hair algae, no I won't buy fish from there either...I watched how they treated new fish when they arrive...talk about stress, poor fish...I'm surprised they have anything alive to sell.
Then there is a ***** but they don't sell very much for saltwater, not all Petcos carry SW fish, and mine is one of them. There is one Mom and Pop LFS across town but again not much SW stuff, they do have second hand tanks, stands and some equipment too....I go there for bargains..They have old skimmers, dry rock and old lights
There is a very nice store in Fox lake called Something Fishy, They don't carry skimmers, Seachem test kits or MH bulbs, they will order it...but I can order it. They will trade coral and fish for in store credit, so if I have a critter that grew too big for the tank, or a coral that had to be fragged...That's where I go, and I can trade for a critter (coral) I want.
I shop mostly online because I like the guarantee SWF offers, and some other sites...(can't mention them) LFS do not have a guarantee at all...if the fish goes belly up as you walk out the door...oh well.
The equipment selection is endless online...the web always has someplace with what I'm looking for, so I don't have to just make do with whatever is being sold in stores. Shopping online is awesome for a SW hobbyist.
