my tv just made a large banging sound.

here's the thing... my tv, as i was just posting in another thread, just made a loud bang.
its been off since 11, and its now 1:25.
why does it do this?
my tv in my bedroom does the same thing.
i know houses creak and settle, but a tv?
maybe samarah is coming.

TV on material gets hot and expands. TV off material cools down and contracts. You can hear popping noises when that happens but a bang sounds a little severe.

^^^ +1 on that and how old is your TV's? the older it is the more it will do that...

Mine does the bang thing too; it's a 46" Sony Trinitron Widescreen HDTV.... DLP, so it's deep, and the plastic along the back is what makes the sound... I think it sounds so loud to me because there's so much room inside for it to reverberate.

maybe it sounded louder because it was dead quiet in the house.
its a phillips 30" wide screen hd crt
the heating and cooling of elements thing makes sense.
so, its not the zombies?

That movie was pretty creepy, but what ticked me off was that immidiately after that movie the house phone rang. (and the house phone never rang) Then to top it off no one was there. Creepy stuff

Is the TV still not working? Could the bulb / lamp have blown? I have a DLP and there is a bulb that needs to be replaced every 2500 hours of operation. I don't know much about CRTs but in case it has a bulb too that may be what you heard.
