Did you buy that many pulsing xenias or did they spread? If they spread how long did it take. The tank looks great, what size is it?

my guess is it spread like that. xenia grows like a weed given the right conditions. you can get growth like that in a mater of months not years.
we had a xenia frag that grew ten time its original size in a very short amont of time.
many people dont like xenia for the simple reason that it takes over a tank so fast.
even GSP cant spread as fast as xenia IMO.and we all know how fast GSP grows.
personaly i love redsea xenia

Its a 58g tank. I actually just got given a few stalks of xenia a few months ago and now it looks like that. I harvest around 30-40 stalks a month.

You know I was wondering how to do that. Harvesting that is. Do you just cut off a clump? Pull the base off the rock?
I would be interested in knowing more about how to do that.

3 steps. First you cut off the xenia as close to the base as possible. 2nd you stick a toothpick through the stalk right through the middle so it wont tear off. 3rd you rubberband the toothpick to a rock.

Right on thanks for the info.. I bet I can do the same thing with my Kenya Tree coral. I was just pinning them between two frags. It took a few days but they were attaching themselves. Unfortunately those were the ones that bit the dust after a heater malfunction. Real bummer I was going to sell them to my LFS. Make a buck or two. Thanks again

Once xenia is established you can do any or all of the above. IMO it’s hard to kill the stuff.
I use regular scissors most of the time or in some cases I have just ripped it off the rock. Any and I mean any flesh left behind will grow into a new one. we dont have any in our new tank yet but our older one it really did become weed like

Hey Ross,
Sorry I haven't updated you. We had a hudge power suge Thursday night, and our hard drive went. Thank you for the frag trade. Everthing was packaged well. Also everything survived. I love em.
I'll post some pics after I reinstall my camera.
