I didn't vote because yes and no don't really cover my opinion on it. If my state were to propose a marriage amendment limiting it to one man and one woman I would likel;y support it but as was the case in the only state to reject a marriage amendment so far it also included a ban on civil unions I would vote against it.
Respecting our traditions that are based on religious beliefs is one thing but allowing religion to enter into public policy isn't a good thing. Who's to say someone who shares your beliefs will always be in charge.

where is the "I don't really care" option? If two guys want to get married, I don't have to go to the wedding or reception. It doesn't affect me or my family in any form or fashion. I still hve to explain homosexuality to my children because they will inevitably encounter two dudes holding hads walking down the street or kissing.
If two chicks get married, I would attend the reception especially if it was open bar....
To be honest, it doesn't matter. If it is a sin, then they are sinning. not me, so what do I care.

Well one thing has been consistent here. Everyone that has voted NO has simply said NO with no explanation as to why. I voted yes based on situations I have observed and people I have come to know. I'm am straight and have no desire or curiosities around being Gay. For those voting No, how many of you are voting NO because of religious immoral teachings around the subject that have never really given it a thought from their perspective or knowing someone who is a great human being but is different?
I was once an adamant NO person based on the same things. Never religious though as I have never been a religious person. More on just prejudices from hearing it my whole life.
he asked why people were voting know like what there reasoning is. this is a bad thread to get into... but hey its the internet and I really dont care if people like me and my opinions or not. lol

I agree if there was an i dont really care option i wouldve chose that. Im not against it. But im not gonna go out and try and get one made.
Also a lot of people (including friends that ive asked and such) seem to accept girl and girl a lot more than guy and guy. I just find this interesting.

I said no, but *I don't care* would have been a more close answer. I'm OK with a civil union, but a marriage was meant to be between a man and a woman. Maybe I have a naive way of thinking, but 2 guys or 2 gals can't naturally have a child for example.
For the record I'm not homophobic. I have a lesbian friend, 1 who is still undecided (bi) and a few gay's that I know.
There's so much more to marriage than just the legal paper. For example immigration purposes, a gay relationship is not grounds for K-1 visa which is a fiance visa.

I really dont care what people have to say in this thread because ive already heard most opinions already and most people have made their descision and arnt going to change it so whats the point in arguing. i was just interested to see what the numbers would come out to be.

No one asked anyone to defend themselves and I don't recall pointing out anyone specifically to reply. My only intention in asking is that 20 years ago I was an adamant NO person. 10 years ago I was an I don't care person. Today, I'm probably still closer to an I don't care person overall but know a few genuine people that don't want special treatment but to just be accepted as they are and have the same rights. For them specifically, I'd like to see them get their wish because they are great individuals. Having gone through a change in opinion in the past 20 years, I was just curious if anyone that said NO was saying for the same reasons I did back then. I could care less what one's opinion is and have no intention of trying to change someones mind.

My arguement with "gayness" is that it can't be natural because we are all instictually programmed with a biological clock, us and our dogs and bears and monkeys and fish. Natures way of keeping the species going. Gay couples cannot procreate so how could they naturally be wired to desire the partnership of someone of the same gender? Now... that said. There are people born everyday with "flawed" mental wiring, body chemistry, physical ailments. So, whose to say these people, while they were being developed in the womb, were or weren't bestowed male parts and female minds or chemistry and vice versa? I'm pretty sure I recall the discovery of a definite gene being associated with it so perhaps it is more natural than people would like to accept.
There is supposed to be seperation of church and state so "immorality" in the churches eyes shouldn't have anything to do with it. Then again, marriage is a religious ceremony. A union of "man and wife" before God. Sooooooooo why as to choose to kick the bees nest, I don't know.
I don't put together hetero rallies and parades but sometimes I'd like to. I get tired of hearing about and seeing the gay demonstrations. It's like being in the French Quarter during Mardi Gras. Pride is one thing, shoving something down peoples throat is another. If someone expects to be tolerated, they should tolerable. Pedro on the old school MTV's Real World for example. That dude wouldn't shut up about how the everyone hates him because he's gay. Maybe if he would have shut up and just acted like a person instead of feeling sorry for himself and shoving it down everyones throat he would have been accepted for himself. I know a few gay people who aren't anything like that, and they are otherwise "normal" people who I can't see any reason not to be treated as equals on a personal, financial, and social level.

Those are some very interesting points you make.
