Well, part of the problem, is come October, into November, there really isn't many tracks warm enough to go racing, besides your Phoenix's, Homestead's, etc... They could go out to California I suppose, but having a Chase race with only 60,000 in attendance, and the stands 1/3 full, would look disappointing...
Why not in the cold? lol, I wonder long motors would last in a 35 degree day...

I don't like this no racing in the rain either. Man up, put on some treaded tires and keep running.
They tried that, in Canada one day remember? It wasn't very fun.

Oh, the engines would enjoy the heck out of that frosty air. Colder air = more dense air = more power. It's the tires that would never get up to proper race temp, and randomly fail, that's an issue.

I do agree with NASCAR's rain policy, no race on ovals, we go racing on road courses (in theory). The speeds achieved are usually too high to risk it, and there are a number of technical challenges that would make rain tires on oval cars, a bad idea.

About why even on the road courses, where they're suppose to race in the rain but sometimes don't, it's about economics. For Goodyear to manufactures 43+ sets of additional rain tires for each team for the weekend, would be a huge bill. The tires only have a limited shelf life, and with their only being 2 road course races a year for Cup, (4 or 5 for Nationwide??) the spaces inbetween might fall during a time Goodyear doesn't have enough rain tires ready to go.

Personally, I thought that Canadian, or was it Mexico IIRC?, Nationwide race in the rain, was awesome. It takes X amount of skill to pilot a race car around a dry track. It takes X, to the power of 10, to successfully pilot a race car around a track in the rain.

The skill was amazing, the rain made everything seem like everything was in slow motion at least on TV. Didn't really enjoy it... (and if you remember those were 4-5 year old tires rain tires)

Tires wouldn't get up to tempuratures?

When they ran the road course in the rain I thought it was pretty cool. All part of showing who's the best driver.

Doubt it. The frosty air, and the ice cold track would take forever for the tires to get up to temp. I'm sure if they're race on long enough, they would. But all the caution flags from wrecks would prevent that
. Not to mention the slightest bit of actual frost/ice on the track would spell disaster.
As much heat that is generated by those cars, I seriously doubt ice would be a factor. And it isn't like they haven't raced in snow before, remember bristol a couple years ago?

So who watched the race? It was probably the best race all year. Sucks for Tony, but I was really impressed with his post-race interview, he was the only driver out of the 5 or 6 they interviewed, that congratulated Bowyer on his win.

That's how you get it done in fantasy too

I watched bits and pieces in between football...Very disappointing end for Smoke fans, to go from win to 20 something place, will be tough to recover for him, but hopefully he still can.

The heck you are in the last Month for the Full season I when from 200 Points out of the lead to less than 30. I am leading the Chase of the Final 10 races and Most of my heavy Hitting Drivers have at least 2-3 races left to run in A B and C list. I might pull this out still. Not bad for a Rookie huh.

Anyone see the Bird Kyle Flipped the Nascar Offical today and then the 2 Jeffs going at it after they Wrecked. Of course the best part was seeing JJ lose the points lead.

How about the 48 replacing his pit crew with the 24 crew after Jeffy got crashed out? Burton should have swatted Gordon like an insect. And Kyle Busch is stuck on stupid again. That was a fun race.

Wonder what Kyles Punishment is going to be for the Bird he gave since it Made TV for a few Seconds. He is going to be hit in the Wallet for sure and lose Points you can be sure of htat one. Gordon and Burton well they will be hit for Action Detrimental to Stock Car Racing we can see that one coming. But ouch the one that will hurt Kyle the most will be his Fiancee at the Wedding Planners I can see it now. Or even a Sponsor pulling out. M&M's is a Kids Candy not a good thing to flip off anyone if your supposed to represent them.

They should sit Busch for a race. I doubt anything will happen to the Jeffs cause they'd have to hit Gordon as hard as Burton if not harder and they never have been quick to slap down their darlings.

Man, I'm falling off the charts now. Didn't get an email reminder this week and forgot to even change my drivers. That was an interesting race though.

Well, the only real reason NASCAR would further punish Busch, would be because he gestured at a NASCAR official, not because it was aired. On that part of it, a majority of that responsibility, it being aired, has to fall back on ESPN. Isn't this exactly why the FCC implemented the 5-second live broadcast delay? Omitting who it was at, I really don't think 'the gesture' is any worse then the 2 times the F-bomb got dropped on national TV by Kyle Petty or Brian Vickers (ahead over to youtube) during a Cup race.
BTW, our Fantasy League Chase, is as close, as the actual Chase
. I slipped up this week, it's really gonna come down to the wire.
