I have an MRC MR1 I use with a Mag 12 pump. Its quiet and pulls a lot of gunk out. I believe its on par with the ASM skimmers. I've heard EuroReef are better, but they also cost a lot more. I did have to add 1 mod to it to reduce the microbubbles it released, but it was very easy to do.

Take a look at the Aqua C EV as well, you could do the 180. I have the 240 and am very happy with it. I haven't had to adjust anything in over a month (all I do is empty the gunk), very high production, and great tech support from the company.
Just saw RCreations post, sorry to say I disagree, mine doesn't noticably slow down for any more than a few minutes....Best skimmer I have owned, you can certainly find high praise for Aqua C skimmers an other sites.

I think everyone will tell you AquaC skimmers definitely require a lot more work. There was a huge post about it on ReefCentral and even the most experienced reefers agree that there's a lot of maintenance with these type of skimmers plus they are a lot more sensitive to changes, like adding food, putting your hand in the tank and so on. I've even read a lot of people changing their food to pellets in order to not disturb the skimmer as much. If you feed manily frozen foods or home made, you can forget it. In my little tank, I had to switch to Spectrum pellets and now the HOB AquaC works ok there. But it's ridiculous to have to change the food based on the skimmer.

My new skimmer is up and running. Boy am I happy! I was told 2-7 days for it to start to get stuff out of the tank. NOPE! It started RIGHT away! I guess my tank was dirty.
