OK, not too much time left but I'm leaving work in about 40 minutes so maybe I'll get a response or two.
My girl's cooking me dinner (salmon)... I'm going to stop and getting a bottle (or a box) of wine. I know I should get a white but I just prefer red. I generaly like a Shiraz, she likes a blend or a Melbac (sp?). Any recommendations?

Thunderbird or Boones Farm.....
I thought it was white wine with fish. That's about my knowledge of the stuff LOL!

I prefer a Pinot noir with Salmon. For white meat fish like Mahi mahi a Chardonnay can pair well but for steak type fish like fresh Tuna or Salmon a red is a winner.

Salmon is the exception. Red goes with salmon, as well. Most any riesling would work if you like a lightly sweet wine, but it is a white wine. Johannesburg riesling is my favorite variety. Lot's of different brands. St Chapelle is a great brand, but I doubt it's available up in Detroit.

When I used to drink wine (gives me migraines now) I always really liked Oliver. The dark red wine is really sweet. The blush is a little sweet. They have a nice white wine also, but I just don't care for dry wines, I like the koolaid taste;) It is very resonably priced also. It started as a local wine but I'm pretty sure they carry it nationally now.

Have you ever had a Guwerstemeaner (sp?)? Very good white, very sweet... reminds me of a Riesling.

At the end of the day, I went with both a red (Malbec) and a white (Guwerstameaner). I don't know what kind other than they cost about $12. All good.... ;)

The trick with wine is not so much what others suggest, but what you end up liking. Glad you enjoyed Crimzy!
