My water parameters are :As of 03/06/09 may water parameters are as follow:
Specific Gravity 1.020 - Salinity 27
Temperature 80 - 83°F
pH 8.1
Alkalinity 8 - 12 dKH
Ammonia (NH3) Undetectable 0ppm
Nitrite (NO2)undetectable 0ppm
Nitrate - Nitrogen (NO3)20 ppm has been like this since my tank has completed its' cycle
Phosphate (PO4) 0.2 ppm
Calcium - 450 ppm
Magnesium - 1350 ppm
Iodine - 0.10 ppm
Strontium - 14 ppm
They have remained at this level since my tank completed its cycle in mid Jan 09. My 75g was started on 12/27/2008 and I had my first loss on 03/07/09 it was a star fish which arrived on 03/06/09 with white spots on him and what appeared to be flesh coming out of one of his arms, but I acclimated him very slowly for hrs and never allowed him to come in contact with air after the acclimation process I placed him in my 10g holding tank for observation, when I went to check on him the following morning the fleshy stuff on his arms was still there and the white spots turned into fleshy stuff also, so I assumed he was dead and took him out of the tank to for further observation, I didn't smell anything foul on him but because I exposed him to air if he was not dead he surely was now. Any who can some one help me with this problem as I plan to order another one next week. It was a Knobby Starfish and I will be replacing him with the same. Heres a pic of the dead one.
P.S. My sea urchins which were recieved the same tims as the star fish one just started moving today and the other one has not start moving yet whats up with that?
