I have had my tank for 2 months and ALK reading as stayed the same for over a month now. I have been using a Red Sea Master lab kit and the Alk level shows to be normalhigh to high. I tested some new water that I have been using for my water changes and it reads the same as the tank (the high end of normal to the low end of High) this is RO water with instant sea salt that has been mixed 2 days before I change my water. I have been changing 4gal out of my 55gal tank. The color of the test is light blue. Other params. are NH3-0 NO2-0 NO3-5 Ph-8.3 Thanks for any help.

What is your Calcium level? If it's normal (400 - 450 ppt) then you really don't have to worry about your ALK level.

I think keeping ALK & Ca in balance is important so a Calcium test might be a good next purchase.
Until then just keep up on the water changes and that should keep your Ca and ALK in balance until you start to get a few corals.

thanks for the info I am getting a calcium test kit today. I also have been adding balance blocks that the LFS said to add. They said to add more when the one in the tank dissolved. They are made by HBH it said that it adds calcium and 71 trace minerals. what is your thoughts on the blocks?

A waste of money. Just my opinion though.
