teh conscientious marine aquarist by fenner is the first book i ever bought on htis hobby and it has been an invaluable resource these past years. as you get more and more into the hobby you will find that the info in it is just not intricate enough. at this point i would then reccommend the Modern Coral Reef Aquarium series by Fossa and Nilsen, a very technical series, but that addresses everythign you need to know abou tthis hobby, so far. most places have these books for like 80 bucks, but i know of a place that you can get them for 50. if you want the website, email me at jonthan.garnett@attbi.com
good luck

yeah thats the conscientious marine aquarist by robert fenenr. a great beginners book, but as i said earlier, as you progress in the hobby you will encounter questions that that book cant answer. the second series i mentioned is from a pair of german/dutch authors and is very detailed and scientific, and the books are like 80 bucks each with a series of 4 but there is a site that sells them for much less. i would definately reccommend fenners book to anyone who is starting out. it is a good general reference book. a book more dedicated to corals is eric bornemans Corals book, great resource on corals of all types.
good luck

I think someone mentioned this earlier, buying clams, angels and blennies, well, you could have had many great books by now. they are somewhat expensive for books any where from (25-70), but then again your fish are expensive too (20- A LOT), for fish that is.

I must warn you that your scooter blenny will probably die also. They are very similar to mandarins in their feeding habits. They rarely take frozen or prepared foods. They usually eat amphipods and copepods that are found in live sand and live rock. Without these little shrimp-like creatures, blennys usually starve to death.

not usually, if there isnt enough pods already there wont be if you add them in, especially in a 15. keep trying w/ fine chopped frozen food.

The Conscientious Marine Aquarist: A Commonsense Handbook for Successful Saltwater Hobbyists
i know this might anger some people for even questioning but theres a lot of alge growing on my tank and was wondering if i could buy some snails, anyone recommend any good types, can i still buy some scarelt reef hermits? the one scarlet reef i have looks soo cool and it just changed its shell today, but i missed it
=( i really wanted to see it too. anyone know how they do it?
i actually have a tube worm, does anyone know what they like? low or high current, does anyone know how i should maintain it or any info about it?

form follows function. those dusters dont look like that just to be pretty, they are filter feeders, the comb the water for phytoplankton, and other microbes in the water., the like low to medium current. just think if they were in high current they couldnt function well and would get tore up. common sence will anwser many questions (not trying to be rude).

Nope. They don't require any light. But then how are you going to see them without any light? ;)
They do require phytoplankton though.

i found a great place to put the tube worm since the fuvual is gone, but theres very little light, just wanted to meake sure before i make a big mistake.
amphipods and copepods and phrytoplankton, is there anyway to add this into the tank? adding a new liverock? how can i tell if i even have these things? is there a bottle full of these things i can buy?

DT's is a bottled phytoplankton (live). Cryopaste will also work if you can find it.
Copepods you'll have to grow on your own as your tank matures.
