Hello all,
I have a pink tip hiatian i just got in on Friday, I put him in tank just the way i'm supposed to, and it was beautiful and big. I came home today and it's hanging upside down on the rock in the dark and all in a pink ball, i put him on top again and put food around him, his tenicles came out some but their just lying there, ever once in a while one will move,
is there anything i can do, or did i do something wrong.
My water levels fine.
please help.

thanks for the fast reply
so should i have not moved him?
if they need strong light, why did he go under the rock?
He seems to be slowly coming out, so if he falls on the gravel, should i leave him there? He was stuck to the feather duster earlier?
Sorry for the question, i just don't want to put more in there if i can't do it right?
Thanks all

I would let the anenome go where it wants to go! I have a rbt that I placed where I thought would be the perfect spot..the rbt didn't think my choice was so hot. It moved to a lower part of the tank
(I'm talking about a 12 g nano..yes I know it is an inappropriate set up for rbt) between two pieces of lr and its just as happy as it can be with its Tomato Clown.
FYI...I am cycling a new (much larger) tank with the appropriate light wattage per gallon just for the rbta and will transition water from the nano to the new tank slowly (as per my lfs expert) before I move the rbta. But seeing this rbta in a nano w/ 48watts makes me wonder about all the hype about proper 6-7 watts per gallon lighting (please! no one be offended). The rbta really, really looks great! Of course, I'm chewing my fingernails daily with worry over this guy.
btw..the clown stayed in the upper right corner of my tank for two days before he actually joined the rbta.

thanks for all the help, i am still confused about him, don't know if i want more pink tips, they are beautiful. This morning he was still under rock, and all balled in. I turned light back on and feed the flake food, and he came out, now he looks good, i'm not sure if it's the food floating around or the light coming back on.
he is still under rock though, guess that's where he wants to home.
i'm still new at this, so thanks for all your help.
As for my lighting, i looked and not sure what it is, they gave it to me at the pet store for saltwater fish, he changed it over for me, so i'm not sure, it's blue and has a small 25 on it.(i sound really dumb don't i)
thanks

JacknJill, I'm in Summerfield NC, about 20 miles north of Greensboro. Where are you?
I'm a newbie at this...have lr, ls, 2 yellowhead watchman gobies, 1 highfin banded (banded highfin) goby, 2 rainford's gobies (that I just purchased, which may have been a mistake),
xenia, 3 mushrooms, various polyps and a big ass RBTA and tomato clown. Everyone is tiny except for the RBTA...it was on sale for $29 & was supposed to be only 3" (purchased online)...I don't know what part of it was 3"..a tentacle maybe?
I love my gobies..the watchman & highfin share the same cave in the lr. I did have a pistol shrimp, but when he grabbed the highfin in his claw (so much for symbiotic relationships), the pistol shrimp became history (no, I didn't kill it).
I started a fw system 3 yrs ago and now have fw & sw.:D

I know Clemmons! Do you go to the lfs on Reynolda Rd in Winston-Salem? This is the only saltwater fish store in Winston that I know of...are there others? I've been ordering online because even with shipping cost it is less expensive and the sizes are much, much larger. I purchased a yellow polyp frag online for $9..the lfs wanted $35 for a smaller size!
I know Clemmons is horse county..as is Summerfield.

There is a nice shop in Kernersville....Business 40 East to Hwy 150/66 exit, take exit, turn right at stop light, shop is in small shopping center down on the right..next to a used car dealer I think. Look for sign. Small shop, good prices, open 7 days a week. They have fw too. Everthing is always clean; I've never seen a dead or dying fish in one of their tanks..that means a lot to me.

Hey guys,,,,
it's me, i still have a few questions.
My anemone is still moving around and drawing himself completly in??
can they get up on a rock if they fall on gravel?
how often should i feed him? The bottle says once every 2 weeks?
Is this normal behavior for all anemone?
This way i won't have to ask hundreds of questions next time.
he's drawing back in now, i have current going and light on, his tenacles are moving like he's looking for food. I fed the liquid stuff last night.
Thanks for the help.

I have a pink-tipped haitian and when I first got it, its behavior was similar to yours. I tried moving it a few times out from under rocks and it always found its way back into the dark, then it finally started moving itself into the light. Now it's out constantly, and it's huge.
Just wait it out, I'm sure it will work itself out with time. Good luck!

just leave it alone and it should be just fine. give it a few days to recover. They also close up when they are sleeping.

Well, not exactly. But do not ever try and move an anemone - it will move on its own to where it wants to go, and it does, indeed, know best. YOu don't know what it is looking for in terms of lighting and flow. Trying to move it can damage the anemone - this, to it, would be an attack after all.
Anemones swell up and then deflate into nothingness as part of their excretory process.
Liquid diets (anything from a bottle) are not suitable for this anemone - it needs meatier things like bits of shrimp (like from a grocery store) or krill. It is not a filter feeder like most of the bottled foods are designed for...it is a bit different. Do not feed frozen brine or other food that is wasted as it will impact water quality. Feed it meatier things, perhaps a few times a week; it will reject food if not hungry.
