I have a mag700 in the trash can.....what should I do? (this has never happend to me)

It isn't an anti-mildew model, is it?
I always bleach my containers and scrub a tub.... I've seen oil dribbling down into these things in a back room before they went out on the shelf.

IDK...It's a Rubbermaid Roughneck.....there is no film, or anything odd floating around in it either...
To tell you the truth I am gonna toss this can...it kinda bows and is unstable and scares me...LOL...I have it propped against something right now...
So should I toss the 50G's????? OR should I test for something else???

hi

heat the water and keep the power head up top, when the dust settles use only the clean water.
Hope that helps

I'll try it....thanks....my PH is on the bottom....I'll raise it
what could it hurt

it has to either be one of three things. Your rodi water, your trash can, or your salt... i would toss the water and the trash can and get a brute trash can... not only is it tough and can hold your water for WC's but you can also ice down kegs real nice!!

LOL...THANK YOU....I have been on the side of tossing it all day
You know how you just wait for someone to agree

The salt is new, the ro/di is fine...so let's just say the trash can is to blame
OK...Time to drain all the water

better safe than sorry....this is for my 225G tank and I have WAYYYYYY too much invested to risk anything...over some dumb water

It's draining :( You know I should have known better.....I am always freakin cleaning something....I have no clue why I thought just a rinse would be good enough

YES, I was lucky and got away with just a rinse with my 35G....NEVER AGAIN
FOR now on.....I so the extra step

one other think you might wanna look into for water storage is the big horse troffs that some people use as sumps. if u have the room in your garage or in the house somewhere... just make a foam cover over the top of it to cut down on the heater kickin on if u put it in the garage... couple other things to consider is elevation of it.... build a stand so it can either be drilled for a cork type of opening so that its an easy fill into a 5 gallon bottle or gravity fed... one of my buddies uses this method on his 120 deep and he has not looked back... it can hold massive amounts of water so you have some for a WC and emergency cases.... just my 0.02$

I've lost everything due to a bad batch of salt water mix. I use MarineMix only. Don't risk it. Also, use Rubbermade Brute containers. A heater and a pump is all you need. Plus a refractor, of course.

WELL...I use Instant Ocean Salt....have since July 2008, and have never had a problem, I have come to the conclusion that it was the trash can....after I emptied the 50g's, I noticed a light film that was coating the sides of the trash can.....this can will now be used for TRASH

My husband rinsed it for me, but he probably did not know what to look for....I should have done a more thorough job of cleaning the new can myself....
I am very glad I did not use this water
AND .....the lesson here...NEVER NEVER take the easy way...Not when you have thousands of dollars invested in your tank....and the time invested (IMO) is priceless

Sorry, I didn't subscribe so I missed it. I was wondering why you never said anything else. I would have tossed it too.
