how much does a gallon of saltwater weigh?or if you know the answer to this rather that that how much does a 20 gallon tank weigh?
in a rush cuz im leavinmg to go to buddy's house to make a stand and need to know how much it weighs!

1 gallon of water equals 10lbs...20 gal tank is 200lbs plus substrate and LR.

i guess saltwater weighs a little more but i dont think much...for the purposes of the stand it wont make a difference

I think it weighs closer to 6lbs then 10 maybe 6 1/4 with salt.

I don't know if the salt adds any meaningful additional weight (wouldn't think so) but I'd always thought freshwater weighed 8.33 lbs/gl.

I've always thought 1 gal of water was about 8.25 lbs....saltwater may weigh slightly more. But why worry about the weight of a 20 gal tank? Just design the stand to carry at least 50% more than the estimated weight. That way you should be plenty safe. Better to over build the stand...than to cut it too close and have a problem.
